It looks like Ben Napier’s year of ankle pain might be behind him, thanks to this new physical therapy treatment.
“Stemwave is a thing that exists and it’s somehow actually helping @scotsman.co’s ankle he destroyed playing basketball years ago,” Ben’s wife, Erin Napier, wrote in an Instagram caption under a video of him receiving the treatment.
She continued, “His ortho doc says he needs an ankle replacement it’s so eaten up with arthritis now, but my big brother and this magic machine at @optimal_performance_pt has taken his pain from a 12 to a 4. WHAT IS THIS VOODOO? have yall heard of this? ps. not sponsored, just amazed.”
Ben’s ankle isn’t slowing the couple down, though. In fact, the Napiers recently took to social media to pitch a potential new show.
“I was thinking how fun it would be if we also made a show where Ben and I sit in a dark movie theater like MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER [3000],” Erin said in an Instagram video, with Ben adding, “But instead of sci-fi movies, we watch old Nancy Meyers movies, like [THE] PARENT TRAP.”
Erin explained the potential show would see the couple talking “about the houses and the set design and why these characters live in these rooms and these houses and what it says about the character,” which is something the Napiers call their “obsession in real life.”

“Don’t you think we should pitch that?” she asked followers.
HGTV hasn’t responded to the Napiers’ pitch yet, but in the meantime, the couple are keeping busy with HOME TOWN. The show was recently renewed in a deal that promises fans 32 more episodes. It’s unclear how many seasons this will translate to, but fans of the show can rest assured, they’ll be seeing the Napiers into 2027, at least.
“The HGTV family is where we belong. Shows are often impermanent but HOME TOWN endures, we think, because it lives on a network that teaches and gives comfort to people. It’s more than pretty houses. That’s something we are proud to be part of,” the couple said in a joint statement.
HGTV head of content Loren Ruch added, “Our collaboration with Ben and Erin has led to HOME TOWN’s popularity with our key audiences and strong ratings performance every season. This new deal will ensure fans get more of what they love about the series, which is the Napiers’ charming relationship dynamic and passion for designing beautiful family homes in their small town.”
Ben’s newfound physical therapy treatment for his ankle is sure to be a help as the Napiers embark on new projects, whether it’s new seasons of familiar series or ideas for new shows!
