Five Famous Celebrities You Didn’t Know Attended the Movieguide® Awards

By Ben Kayser, Managing Editor

At the Annual Movieguide® Faith & Values Awards, there’s always a wide variety of famous celebrities and up and coming stars that come to celebrate uplifting entertainment. Here are five examples of up and coming stars that have attended the Movieguide® Awards and then had successful careers.

1. Shia LaBeouf

Before he starred in the wildly successful TRANSFORMERS series, INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL and most recently in FURY, Shia LaBeouf was at the Movieguide® Awards for his starring role in the wonderful golf movie THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED. With his career just starting to take shape thanks to HOLES and the TV series EVEN STEVENS in the early 2000s, Shia was a guest presenter at the Movieguide® Awards.

2. Oscar Isaac

Oscar Isaac won the Movieguide® Grace Award as Joseph in the 2006 movie THE NATIVITY STORY. Since then, the Guatemalan actor, who grew up in an Evangelical Protestant home, has won critical acclaim for INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS and A MOST VIOLENT YEAR. He’s also starring in the upcoming movies STAR WARS:  THE FORCE AWAKENS coming later in 2015 and X-MEN: APOCALYPSE slated for 2016.

3. The Jonas Brothers

In 2005, the Jonas Brothers were just three young talented boys with no idea that they would eventually become a worldwide sensation and sell 17 million albums. They performed at the 13th Annual Movieguide® Awards and in an interview, 12 year-old Nick Jonas revealed that they used the Movieguide site: www.movieguide.org. He stated, “We use [the site], actually. We go online, we check out all the things that they’re doing, you know, we go, ‘Oh, this one has too many bad words. Oh well. We’ll go see this [other movie] instead.’ It’s good. We love it.” Though the band has since split up, the three brothers have pursued individual careers in music, TV and movies.

4. Hayden Panettiere

Two time Golden Globe nominee Hayden Panettiere made waves in the hit show HEROES and currently stars in ABC’s NASHVILLE. Panettiere attended the Movieguide® Awards back in 2002 after her role in the Movieguide® Award nominated movie REMEMBER THE TITANS, where she played the 10-year-old Sheryl Yoast.

5. Jennifer Lawrence

The three-time Academy Award nominated, Oscar winning actress is probably the most liked actress in Hollywood, and definitely the most popular. While she starred in the TBS series THE BILL ENGVALL SHOW, she presented an award at the 2007 Movieguide® Awards. Since then, she’s been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest-grossing action heroine for her role as Katniss Everdeen in THE HUNGER GAMES. She also played a pivotal role in two X-MEN movies. Lawrence played the role of Bill Engvall’s daughter in his 2007 TV show.

Joe Mantegna will be hosting, with co-host Sadie Robertson, the 2016 Movieguide® Awards airing on the REELZChannel Monday, Feb. 22 at 4pm PST/7pm EST.
