Forrest Frank’s $10,000 social media competition prize has turned into a $30,000 donation to fight child trafficking.
“On the heels of a career-defining start to 2026, Forrest Frank is keeping the momentum going with the announcement of a brand-new project, DAWN PATROL — a collaborative album created alongside close friend and fellow artist/musician Noah Hayden,” a press release about the artist’s latest project announced.
However, they soon ran into legal troubles, as there are many other bands and artists who use the name Dawn Patrol. Frank and Hayden’s management told them they could secure the rights to the name with just $10,000. Instead, they decided to open it up to fans — whoever submitted their favorite new band name would receive the money.
“This whole project is to serve the Lord and help bring people together in community. So I actually think that this could be a moment where God is wanting to extend that — this is like an extension of that seed,” Frank said, via ChurchLeaders. “So rather than fight it and go the legal route and stuff like that, I think the best thing to do would be just to change our name.”

Frank and Hayden chose the winners, who submitted the band’s new name: Party Wave. However, instead of taking their prize money, the family who won the contest asked that the artists pay it forward to the next person in line.
The next people in line, a married couple, decided to donate the money to a foundation that helps rescue children from trafficking — a donation that has now grown to $30,000.
Frank and Hayden explained that this wave of giving matches their new name, Party Wave. In surfing terms, a “party wave” is when you “selflessly give up your spot on the wave to include someone else.”
“So I feel like we’re witnessing the party wave continue, [and] we’re just taking it in stride,” Frank said of the donations.
Hayden added, “[Changing the band name] kind of was forced in our hand, but through that, God honored it in such a beautiful way.”
In an Instagram video, Frank marveled at the donations, saying, “God is literally doing this in real time.”
A Father’s Heart Ministry, the foundation they donated to, commented on the video, writing, “Words cannot express our gratitude to you all! This mission is so heavy on our hearts, and you all are making it possible! THIS is a Party Wave.”
Frank and Hayden’s competition turned into a beautiful demonstration of the true meaning of a “party wave!”
