Gina Carano Stars In First Role Since Exit From Disney: ‘I Felt Like Everything Was Turned Against Me’

Actress and former MMA star Gina Carano recently shared about her abrupt firing from THE MANDALORIAN and landing a spot in The Daily Wire’s TERROR ON THE PRAIRIE.
In her new role, Carano plays a tough pioneer mother who protects her children while her husband is away. The actress also serves as a producer on the movie.
“I’ve always wanted to do a period piece and be put in a dress, right?” she laughed. “My favorite movie when I was growing up was PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. I love those kinds of movies. And I’ve always wanted to have a horse in a movie. So when that script came across, I was like, ‘Well, this checks a lot of those boxes for me.’”
She continued, “I was also really fascinated by the family aspect of it and being on the frontier. They’re having to fight all the time to stay alive. They’re fighting the elements. They’re fighting the outlaws. They’re even fighting each other at some point.”
Carano also spoke about what being “canceled” felt like when she was fired from THE MANDALORIAN.
“When I was canceled, I felt like everything was turned against me,” she explained. “Everything that I loved was just against me. I was fighting for my name. I just felt like everything was stripped from me. But Hattie [her TERROR ON THE PRAIRIE character], she’s out there with her family. She’s trying to be a supportive wife, but she’s removed from her home and it’s hard. Everything has been stripped from her. The elements have turned against her. She and her husband aren’t in the best place. They’re arguing back and forth and the baby’s crying.”
“I just felt it was a really good time for me to access the pain that I was feeling in my personal life and wear it quietly,” the actress continued. “Because that’s how I felt inside. It was nice that the character had that in it, and I could kind of use that as therapy, just to let my hurt show in a way that I was doing in life anyway. I think it really added to my character.”
Carano went on to discuss “cancel culture” in today’s society, and her thoughts on its danger.
“I understand when people are fired,” she said. “But when a company’s preaching about being inclusive to all people, and they’re not, they’re just telling one side of the story, and they’re just telling … they’re alienating half of, if not more, the country, I think that we’ve run into a big problem.”
“In my case, I don’t think that anything I did deserved cancel culture,” Carano continued. “I don’t think that it deserved being smeared by the Hollywood press. But I understand now how that machine works. You can’t just act a fool with your employer. I don’t think that was the case [with me]. But I do feel like people are speaking up [for] my case.”

Disney reportedly fired THE MANDALORIAN star Gina Carano after the actress received backlash from a social media post that compared America’s political divide to how the Nazi party came to power in Germany.
The conservative actress and former MMA fighter is no stranger to controversy. Last year, fans demanded that Disney fire Carano over various comments regarding face masks, Democrats, and voter fraud.
The newest controversy comes after Carano, 38, ironically shared her opinion on how political hostility mirrors communist regimes in history.
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?” read the post, which Carano had posted to her Instagram.
Carano also posted a photo of a person wearing cloth masks to cover their face and head and captioned it: “Meanwhile in California.”
Instagram removed both posts. Disney announced that Carano was no longer “employed by” the company after fans took to Twitter with “#FireGinaCarano.”
Additionally, Lucasfilm’s statement said that “there are no plans for” the rehiring of Carano and that “her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Carano played Cara Dune in seven episodes of THE MANDALORIAN. While Disney rumored that Carano would also have a lead role in a MANDALORIAN spin off, it has withheld the series’ casting.
“They have been looking for a reason to fire her for two months, and today was the final straw,” an anonymous source told Fox News.
