Greg Laurie Talks JESUS REVOLUTION’s Impact: ‘People Coming to Faith’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Pastor Greg Laurie’s life debuted on the big screen last year in JESUS REVOLUTION, and he shared what that meant to him backstage at this year’s Movieguide® Awards.
“It’s kind of surreal, honestly, to see your story told on the big screen like that,” he told Movieguide®. “But I knew when I got to know Jon [Erwin], I could trust him with my story. And it’s funny because he, you know, in a movie, things are compressed, and some things are changed. And after watching that come together, I said, ‘I like your version of my life [better] than my version.'”
Laurie’s faith journey began with a revival, and his story sparked another.
“The most important thing is seeing the impact [on] audiences and lives, like actually people coming to faith in Christ. And that’s what I got really excited about,” Laurie said. “It’s so time for [another Jesus Revolution].”
“Our hope was by telling a revival story, that it could inspire another revival story,” he added.
Movieguide® nominated JESUS REVOLUTION for the Epiphany Prize® for Most Inspiring Movie. Part of the review reads:
JESUS REVOLUTION is incredibly well made and captivating. It has many scenes with jeopardy and inspiring, well-written presentations of Jesus’ Gospel. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution because the movie accurately depicts the drug scene from an impartial viewpoint that might attract younger children. The movie also shows Greg Laurie’s mother’s constant drunkenness and philandering. The immoral behavior is part of the true stories in JESUS REVOLUTION, which, to an amazing degree, have been made into an exciting, cohesive, uplifting movie.

Through his drawings and animations, Laurie uses entertainment to inspire kids’ faith.
Per CBN’s Faithwire, Laurie “recently launched a new animated TV series, THE ADVENTURES OF BEN BORN AGAIN AND YELLOW DOG, a donor-funded project on the Harvest+ app that follows Yellow Dog, a character who’s always ‘getting himself into trouble and mischief.’ Meanwhile, Ben, the narrator, shares the truth with his compatriot.”
Laurie said he has already “heard stories of kids coming to the Lord watching this cartoon because it’s entertaining. It’s fun. And it’s evangelistic, and I don’t know that I’ve ever seen an evangelistic cartoon.”
Movieguide® previously reported:
Pastor Greg Laurie announced that his evangelism cartoon, THE ADVENTURES OF BEN BORN AGAIN AND YELLOW DOG, based on a caricature of himself, will be released soon.
“I am excited to announce that my cartoon character, Ben Born Again and his buddy, Yellow Dog are now animated and our first cartoon is coming very soon!” Laurie announced social media along with a sneak peek. “The first one is titled THE BRIDGE IS OUT. These cartoons will be both entertaining and evangelistic. I think you are going to like them.”
Laurie first revealed that he was working on this project last September as a fun way to share the Gospel with people of all ages.
Ben Born Again and Yellow Dog stem from cartoon characters he created in the ’70s to share his newfound faith with a wide audience. Through these characters, he developed a Gospel tract that has been shared with over 1 million people.
