Harrison Ford Joins Cast of CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER
By Movieguide® Contributor
Hollywood legend Harrison Ford has officially joined the Marvel universe.
The STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES star is set to play General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the upcoming CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER.
The role was previously played by William Hurt, who passed away earlier this year.
It’s unknown how big Ford’s role will be, or how he will fit into the movie’s still-undisclosed story.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER will star Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson and Carl Lumbly.
Movieguide® previously reported on the upcoming movie:
Actor Anthony Mackie, who first donned the stars and stripes of the iconic comic-book superhero Captain America in the series THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER, is set to pick up the shield once again in an upcoming CAPTAIN AMERICA movie.
The new movie is the fourth movie surrounding “Cap,” and is helmed by Julius Onah, the director of THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX.
Chris Evans previously played the avenger until 2019 in AVENGERS: ENDGAME.
While CAPTAIN AMERICA and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER earned nominations and wins at the Movieguide® Awards Gala for their moral worldviews, Disney’s series tended toward a politically correct agenda.
This politically correct agenda was on display in the recent Disney+ series THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER.
CAPTAIN AMERICAN: NEW WORLD ORDER will surely increase the size of their audience if they stick to moral and patriotic themes, as they did in previous installments in the franchise.
A portion of Movieguide®’s review of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER reads:
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is a terrific action movie. It hits all the right plot points and adds some nifty twists. Once again, Chris Evans does a superb job as the iconic hero. The supporting players are also excellent. Happily, THE WINTER SOLIDER has a strong Christian, redemptive, moral, patriotic worldview with an overt baptism and other Christian symbolism. Captain America and his friends are protecting both American liberty and world freedom. THE WINTER SOLDIER warrants caution, however, for intense action violence and brief foul language.
