After a two-year hiatus, the Holmes family will return to their HGTV show HOLMES FAMILY RESCUE to help desperate homeowners in need.
The show follows Mike Holmes and his children Mike Holmes Jr. and Sherry Holmes as they try to help people who have been wronged by other handymen and contractors. The show’s synopsis explains, “The series spotlights Mike’s personal mission to ‘make it right’ for homeowners who have fallen victim to careless or dishonest contractors.”
HGTV shared the news on Instagram, and people in the comment section expressed excitement for the return.
The caption reads, “The Holmes family is back, and they’re ready to rescue homes and restore hope! Brace yourself for some epic renovations…”
One fan commented, “Finally! I always need more of the Holmes family on TV 🙌” Another person said, “Yes 💯 percent Yes I am so happy to the Holmes Family for returning to HGTV 😍❤️”
Mike has been involved in home renovation shows since 2001, when he starred in the Canadian show HOLMES ON HOMES. That wrapped in 2009. His most recent show began in December 2021 ran for two years before taking a break.
“Mike, Michael and Sherry understand how disruptive a bad renovation can be for a family,” Loren Ruch, group senior vice president, programming & development for HGTV, said of the family ahead of the second season. “They are compelling experts who care about their clients and aim to give them a beautiful and safe place to live, which our viewers love to see.”
Besides his TV shows, Mike also hosts the “Holmes on Homes” podcast where he discusses everything home renovation. Season 5 of his podcast launched April 17, which he announced on his Instagram.

“I’m sitting down with some of the brightest minds in homebuilding and construction innovation,” he said. This season covers topics ranging from legal ways to build and rent out a basement to how 3D printing would benefit construction to the shortage of trade worker.
“I’m also going to be joined by my children as they talk over my podcast as we look at some of the old projects we worked on, learnings and what not to do, and some fun family trivia,” Holmes added.
He also heads up a charity to help those pursuing work in the construction field. The website states, “The Holmes Foundation and the Make It Right® Charity have awarded over 155 Make It Right® Scholarship and Bursary awards, including 24 Renovation Technician Awards of Excellence to Conestoga College and various other awards, totaling over $240,000.00.”
The next season of HOLMES FAMILY RESCUE will air June 4 at 9/8c on HGTV.
