The cast and crew of HOUSE OF DAVID recently came together to celebrate Season 2 of the popular biblical TV show.

“Season 2 is big,” the show’s creator, Jon Erwin, told Movieguide® at the show’s premiere. “It’s epic in every way.”

Season 2 of HOUSE OF DAVID “follows the aftermath of the battle between David and Goliath and David’s rise to the throne,” according to a synopsis of the show. “As he navigates palace politics, his family’s jealousy, and a growing romance, David steps deeper into his destiny and learns what it means to become a great leader.”

Erwin added, “I’m very grateful to have done this, and my hope is that people will watch the show and go open up the Bible. I tell people, ‘The show is not scripture, but it’s a love letter to scripture’…it’s meant to get people to open up the book that will change their life.”

Writer Jonathan Walker made similar comments, sharing that he wanted to “bring a story to life that felt very authentic for people who are deep in their faith, but also to find a way to communicate this great and timeless story to an audience that might not be, and to bring them to the Bible and give them an opportunity to see and understand the importance of scripture and the way that these stories really do serve the test of time.”

Michael Iskander, who plays David, made his onscreen debut with the first season of HOUSE OF DAVID.

“I’m so blessed that really everybody on this production has been so wonderful and amazing,” he said. “When I show up to set, I feel a light that is amongst everyone. On top of that, I’m just lucky to be part of the faith-based media. I mean, how lucky are we to get to use our talents to worship Christ and to glorify Him?”

Iskander continued, “This show is really a testament to how amazing faith-based media can [be].”

The actor spoke about how his role on HOUSE OF DAVID has impacted his faith to AP News.

“My faith always comes first. That’s No. 1,” Iskander said. “And so, I guess I look at everything through that lens. I don’t see why there should be a separation between art and faith. I’m very lucky with David. I get to worship when I go to work — that’s a blessing. I hope more people are inspired by faith in their art.”

The first two episodes of HOUSE OF DAVID Season 2 are currently available to stream on Prime Video.
