How Jenny Marrs Hopes Her Kids Describe Their Childhood

HGTV star Jenny Marrs shared what she hopes her kids will remember about their childhood.

“If I imagine my grown children in twenty years, sitting around a table with their friends, how do I want them to describe their childhood?” she asked in an Instagram post.

“I know I want them to have warm, fond memories of long days outside. I want them to remember dirt under their fingernails and laughter on their lips. I want them to remember the sensation of sunshine on their faces,” she said.

“I want them to remember delivering tomatoes to a neighbor and picking apples off the tree in his yard. I want them to remember the affection and responsibility gleaned from caring for animals. I want to remember a home with vases full of handpicked wildflowers and walls covered in their homemade Picasso’s. I want them to remember a childhood framed with sweet, content moments of lingering, together,” Marrs continued.

“Some days are a flurry of busyness,” she added. “But, I’ll never stop protecting the white space in our calendar reserved for days exactly like today.”

Marrs’ Instagram is full of stories like this, sharing her family’s life on their farm while encouraging parents to keep their children engaged with the outdoors. Her posts remind us that God created us to be in nature.

Marrs and her husband, Dave, have been married for 18 years. The couple shares five children.

The FIXER TO FABULOUS stars have also shared the adoption story of their daughter Sylvie.

“I feel like God put [it] on our hearts that she was ours, and right when you knew, it was just like, ‘Yup.’ It was a key in a lock,” Dave told PEOPLE.

“Sylvie, now 11, was adopted from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The process was supposed to take just six months, but it stretched into three years,” Movieguide® reported.

“Adoption is a part of our family. It’s a part of our story, but they’re all just our kids,” Jenny reiterated.
