How Sadie Robertson Huff ‘Saw God Work’ When Plans Changed
By Movieguide® Contributor
Sadie Robertson Huff and her husband Christian Huff are looking back on this year’s LO Sister Conference — including all the things that went wrong, and how God moved in to set things back in motion.
“This is what happened night one, and here’s the thing,” Sadie said in a recent episode of her “WHOA That’s Good” podcast. “We work towards [the] conference all year long so, you know, a lot goes into the planning of the conference and who we have speaking and flights and bookings and all the different things, and this is what I mean by ‘I saw God work in so many different ways’ because yes, we planned so much, prepared so much, but so much of it just went out the window night one, and we got to see God do what really He had planned, and it was so evident, so it was really cool.”
Sadie recalled everything going according to plan on the conference’s first day, right up until she was told that their first-night speaker, Alex Seeley, wouldn’t be able to make it, as her plane was having maintenance issues.
“Steph, my right-hand girl was like…’How do you feel about speaking tonight?’” Sadie said. “I already felt exhausted from the whole day, and so I was like, ‘Oh gosh.’ Well, I’m thinking Lisa Harper has so much experience. Surely she can do this.”
She continued, “I call her, and I say, ‘Lisa, I need you.’ And she goes, ‘Do you need me to speak tonight?’ And I said, ‘Uh, yes.’ And she said, ‘Girl, give me 15 minutes, I’ll get on my cowboy boots and I’ll be ready to preach the gospel.’ And it was such an epic response because, like, talk about someone who’s just ready to go!”
“She gets up there, and it was the perfect night one message,” Sadie shared. “She didn’t know anything that we were talking about on the conference. The only thing she knew was the overarching theme, but she took that message, and it was the heart of everything we were trying to set up for the weekend.”
Christian added, “Lisa ended up having to speak, which, you know, obviously in the grand scheme of things, the way God orchestrated it, Lisa was the perfect person to start the conference.”
“It was the most powerful first night,” Sadie said. “It was just amazing, and the coolest thing was, none of it was planned. It was just what God had planned.”
Christian said, “Just seeing the way it came together and how God’s hand was in it, even amidst the chaos…was incredible.”
The LO Sister Conference is part of Sadie’s Live Original Ministries, which “was started with the goal to be a sister and a friend to those who don’t have one,” the ministry’s website reads. “My hope is that through all of our different platforms your love for God and people will grow and your knowledge of His love for you will blow you away.”
A post from the Live Original Instagram page about this year’s conference reads, “This past weekend was a touch of Heaven. Chains were broken, hearts were RESTORED, lives were REDEEMED, and Jesus was GLORIFIED! Friends! we pray you were left changed by this conference + that we see you in the same room next year!”
Movieguide® previously reported on the LO Sister Conference:
Sadie Robertson Huff recently shared some behind-the-scenes pictures from her recent LO Sister Conference, thanking all who were involved with the event.
Her caption reads:
one of the most special things about this weekend was looking around and realizing that I get to do this with my closest friends and family.
from the worship team – to the crew – to the volunteers – to breakout group leaders, speakers – production…
everyone knows it takes a team and I truly am thankful to have one of the best (first pic is team lo), but what is amazing is that this team and all of these people who served this week to make it happen are truly my friends, family, and church community.
Watching each person serve in what they were gifted in was one of the most beautiful pictures of the body of Christ.
When I was looking around i thought about how this is how revival happens. When a community of revived people bring people in to be revived by the same God.
Thank you to everyone who worked so hard, poured it all out, prayed, painted, folded towels, welcomed, etc… you know who you are and it wouldn’t have happened without you.
