Christian influencer Lindsey Gurk shared a relatable and laughable life moment she experienced this week, calling Jesus by the pet name she uses for her husband.
“I was talking to Jesus, and I accidentally called Jesus ‘Schmoop!’” Gurk said through her laughter in a video on Instagram Tuesday.
She explained that “Schmoop” is a name she uses for her husband.
Gurk could not contain her laughter and joked at the end that she used the pet name “respectfully.”
“Tell me something like this has happened to you too? 😆 I was so caught off guard I just started cackling,” she wrote in the caption.
Another influencer commented, “The amount of times I’ve called Jesus ‘babe’ 😆🫶🏻✨ it’s just cuz we constantly call out to those closest to us!”
“Jesus probably calls you Shmoop too ❤️” one person commented.
Gurk constantly shares relatable moments about her life on social media — much of it is about her faith or moments of faith and humor.
She recently made a humorous video about letting Jesus take the wheel, a play on Carrie Underwood’s song. In the clip, she jokingly lets Jesus drive while she sits in the passenger seat. Jesus takes her on some bumpy roads and doesn’t always stop when she wants Him to, but she tries to trust Him all the while.

A year ago, Gurk shared an emotional message with her followers that they are chosen and loved by God, that they are not a mistake, and that if they seek God, He will be there with open arms.
She shared that she wants everyone to know what it feels like for God to love them, because it is amazing and reassuring to know that you have a heavenly father who wants good for you.
Across her social media, Gurk takes her viewers through all of her emotions as she learns more about God and shares about her moments with him. She’s also vulnerable about her trials, like infertility and unfulfilled desires for her family.
Many of us can relate to Gurk, like with her desire for everyone to feel God’s love and accidentally calling Jesus a pet name. She shows that being a follower of Jesus isn’t narrow and precise. It’s an ever-changing journey, with lots of humor and ups and downs.
But throughout all of it, God is always God. He’s the rock of our foundation. He’s unchanging, loving and steadfast.
