Brad Paisley and his wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley just celebrated 23 years together, thanks to Brad’s fixation with FATHER OF THE BRIDE.
“He was so cute,” Kimberly, who starred in THE FATHER OF THE BRIDE, said on LIVE WITH KELLY AND MARK. “He went and saw FATHER OF THE BRIDE with his girlfriend. And then she kind of broke his heart, and he went and wrote all these great songs from his heartbreak, and then one day he was like, ‘You know, maybe I should call that girl that was in FATHER OF THE BRIDE because the FATHER OF THE BRIDE had been the movie with this girlfriend.’”
FATHER OF THE BRIDE came out in 1991. It was a decade later when the couple met and Kimberly accepted his invitation to star in his music video for “I’m Gonna Miss Her,” PEOPLE reported.
Kimberly got the role when she was just 19.
“Which is crazy cuz my son is 19,” she said. “And I cannot believe that I was that age when I was doing that movie.”

For their anniversary, Kimberley asked Brad to do something meaningful.
“He wrote me a letter, and it was the sweetest thing ever. That’s all I wanted. And so, then we just went and watched the Oscars in a dark bar, and it was a blast,” she said.
Her wedding to Paisley was a surprise to their guests.
“We got married at our rehearsal dinner. So, we had all of our friends show up for the rehearsal, and they were so confused,” she recalled. “And I came down the aisle in a denim coat with my ribbon bouquet from my bridal shower, and then we just changed it out, and I took off the coat, and I had this wedding dress on, and I changed out the bouquet, and everyone — when I came down the aisle, everyone was sitting down.”
Brad proposed to Kimberly in LA in 2002.
Brad joked, “I surprised her, and we were completely alone out on the end of a pier in Venice in Los Angeles. Nobody could really see us, and that was a safety net — in case she took off running down the pier.”
He credits their marriage success to humor.
“We both have very healthy senses of humor. Anything I take myself too seriously on, she will gladly cut me down to size on and destroy all pre-conceived notions that I’m cool in any way,” he said.
He added, “You’ve got to have similar outlooks and really healthy senses of humor. Pretension should be completely gone in a marriage. Actually, it should be gone before you get married!”
Lord willing, the Paisleys will enjoy many more happy years together.
