Is Chris Pratt reprising his role as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the upcoming AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY?
Here’s what we know.
Early casting news seemed to indicate that Pratt wouldn’t be in the next AVENGERS movie.
“…GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, VOL. 3 saw Peter leave the Guardians and return to Earth to reunite with his grandfather, which would put him on the same planet as the Avengers and potentially prompt him to join the fray,” Screen Rant reported.
But his name wasn’t included in last year’s cast reveal, leaving his character’s future uncertain.
Pratt responded hilariously, quipping, “I don’t know! I think it was, like, far off…They must have cut away from it. I don’t know what happened. I don’t know. It was there. I’m sure it was there.”

Whether or not he appears in DOOMSDAY, the actor has indicated that his time in the MCU isn’t over.
Pratt said on X, “We made a promise with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY that Star-Lord would return. I think I would really love to make good on that promise.”
So what do we know about the upcoming movie?
ScreenRant reported that four hints have been revealed: “The first of them revealed that Chris Evans was coming back as Steve Rogers. The second teaser showed Chris Hemsworth’s Thor with his adoptive daughter, Love. The third teaser was the biggest yet, showing the first look at the return of Fox’s X-Men. The fourth teaser united the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four.”
The stacked cast includes longtime MCU stars like Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, as well as Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Simu Liu, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Lewis Pullman.
Robert Downey Jr., best know for his role as Iron Man/Tony Stark in the MCU, will play Dr. Doom in DOOMSDAY.
“Doctor Doom has officially arrived in the MCU,” the first official synopsis reads. “This villain, a master of cutting-edge science and powerful magic, will unleash a cascading crisis across the entire Multiverse.”
Downey previously spoke about how he got the role.
“Probably a year ago, because you know Feige and I kept in touch. We’re pals. [Jon] Favreau and Feige and I have kept in touch. I’m [also] close with the Russo Brothers,” the actor explained. “I had an idea outside the cinematic universe for how I could be of service to what’s going on in the parks. Susan and I were sitting down with Feige at one point, and he said, ‘It just keeps occurring to me that if you were to come back’ and Susan was like, ‘Wait, wait, come back as what?'”
“Then we both realized over time that it was another thing that just disapproves any doubt anyone could ever have about [Fiege], a very sophisticated, creative thinker about how can we not go backwards, how can we not disappoint expectations, how can we continue to beat expectations, and he brought up Victor Von Doom, and I looked into this character, and I was like ‘Wow,’ and later on he goes, ‘Let’s get Victor Von Doom right, let’s get that right,'” he continued.
AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY will arrive in theaters Dec. 18, 2026.
