Country star Jelly Roll recently reflected on how much his life has changed over the last few years as he walked the red carpet at the ACMs.
“I am struggling to walk around the carpet because I have built so many relationships in this genre,” he told Fox News. “I mean, I’m hugging camera guys.”
Jelly Roll, who was up for entertainer of the year, male artist of the year and album of the year, said he was “overwhelmed” by the experience.
The singer also performed at the awards show, singing his hit single “Heart of Stone,” as well as “Amen,” his collaboration with fellow nominee Shaboozey.
“I love the lyrics of this song,” Jelly Roll said of “Heart of Stone” during an appearance on THE JENNIFER HUDSON SHOW. “When I hear ‘Lord, can you hear me? I’m shackled in these chains/ I’m haunted by the lies of every time I said I’d change.’ Wow, that just reminds me of all the times that I went and looked in the mirror and said, ‘I’m gonna be different today’ and I wasn’t different that day.”
He continued, “It still gives me goosebumps and it makes me want to stand up and do something about it. It makes me want to quit being a man that puts it off and start being a man that does it right now.”
In addition to the changes Jelly Roll has made in his personal life and career, the country star has also made some major health changes — the country star has lost almost 200 pounds over the past year.

“The battle was with the food addiction, changing the way I’ve looked at food for the last 39 years,” he told PEOPLE. “I’ve never had a healthy relationship with food, so that was the hard part. But once you get into that discipline and commitment, it’s like an avalanche. Once that little snowball started rolling, it was on its way.”
Jelly Roll shared that he and his tour crew stay active together, playing basketball and prioritizing healthy meals.
“It’s cool because there was once a time in life that the culture I built on tour was the opposite. It revolved around alcohol and drugs,” he said. “And now our tour culture is around good eating and around exercising and doing emotional check-ins with our crew every day.”
Jelly Roll has made a lot of changes in his life over the past few years, and it looks like they’re majorly paying off!
