Jenny Marrs Prepares for Annual Berry Fest: ‘God Had Something Planned for This Soil’

HGTV star Jenny Marrs is ready for her family farm’s annual Berry Fest, which benefits people in Zimbabwe and Belize through the Help One Now organization.

“I’ve written before about simply focusing on the one thing before you. And, how the next thing is often a small, seemingly insignificant, step of obedience,” Marrs captioned a video of scenes from the farm. “Till the soil. Install irrigation lines. Build a barn. Plant the berries.”

She explained that, by focusing on the task at hand, “you aren’t yet able to see the full picture. You can’t yet connect the dots to realize how this small step will carry you to the next step and then the next and then the next.”

“When we planted these fields nine years ago, we knew God had something planned for this soil. We thought we knew what would unfold in the years to come, but, of course, we had no idea,” Marrs wrote. She added:

We knew we wanted the farm to benefit our orphan-care program overseas, yet God had plans beyond our human-limiting dreams. We thought our farm would fund a small feeding program. Instead, God created a partnership and friendship across an ocean with our now dearly loved friends, John and Orpah Chinyowa. As we planted our fields in the spring of 2015, we had no way of knowing that John had dreamt for years of a farm training program for the older kids he cared for at Musha WeVana Children’s Home in Zimbabwe. We had no way of knowing the way our two dreams would beautifully collide.

Marrs noted that the farm’s Berry Fest will take place next month, adding, “We are immensely grateful to be able to share this place with you all.”

Marrs and her husband Dave frequently talk about their work on the farm and their partnership with Help One Now.

“We aren’t looking to solve long-stemming issues of hunger and poverty with a short-term investment,” Dave said in a statement posted to the farm’s website. “We are committed to the long-haul with these kids. We want to sow seeds of truth and righteousness and love. The fruit that will result will be long-lasting: eternal.”

Help One Now stated that the Marrs’ Berry Farm “funds Tariro Vocational Training & Agricultural Center (formerly Gatehouse Farm) in Zimbabwe, which focuses on equipping children to transition into adulthood successfully. This program offers an agricultural training component along with other vocational skills training opportunities. Additionally, Berry Fest tickets support families in Belize as they join our Family Business Program and launch their own small businesses.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the Berry Fest:

Jenny Marrs shared a photo of her family walking the grounds of her and her husbands berry farm.

She wrote, “I’ve lost track of the laps we’ve prayed and walked around @theberryfarm_bentonvilleover the years. This soil has bold prayers and big dreams burrowed deep within.”

The Marrs family owns The Berry Farm and donates all proceeds to children around the world to better their lives.

She added, “Last night, we prayed in the fields for Berry Fest and for our dear friends doing the hard work in Zimbabwe. We prayed for this farm to be a place of refuge and peace and light in our community. We prayed for the families who will join us on Saturday and for the families across the globe who will be impacted because of our little farm tucked away in the Ozarks. What a wild, unbelievable thing this is. The work isn’t easy but it is absolutely worth it. I love that we get to do this. ?
