Worship leader Jon Reddick shared one way he and his wife keep their marriage strong: “Proximity Days.”
“I just did this random thing. I was like, ‘Babe, what do you think if we call a day this kind of day or that kind of day?’” he shared on Matthew West’s podcast last week. “So we have these seven days, and one of the days is we just spend time just with each other.”
“One of her love languages is quality time. So it’s just like proximity. We’re all in it, and and we love being together, so we just do everything together,” Reddick explained.
A few of their other special days include “Compliment Day” — where “we’re just speaking into each other’s lives” — and “Blame It On Lucy Day,” referring to their dog.
“If you’re irritated about something…you don’t want to say, ‘Why did you do this?’ So then we’re like, we have a day that’s called ‘Blame It On Lucy Day.’ So if you want to blame something, you blame it on the dog,” he laughed.
Reddick and his wife, Rebecca, leaned into their faith last year after she received a colon cancer diagnosis.

“Last week, my wife Rebecca was diagnosed with early onset colon cancer. The diagnosis is positive as it was hopefully detected early enough. She will undergo surgery tomorrow, March 25th,” he wrote on Facebook on March 24, 2025. “This is a deeply personal diagnosis as Rebecca lost her dad to colon cancer at this same age — so as you can imagine we are extremely grateful for this early diagnosis and surgery.”
The following day, Reddick posted a clip of his then new single “No Fear.” Some of the lyrics read:
I got enemies at every side
It ain’t lookin’ good, I ain’t gonna lie
Arrows flyin’, devil’s tryin’
To make me think I’m goin’ down this time
You might think that I’d be afraid
Runnin’ scared with a shaken faith
But the God I know says it ain’t over
The God I know is gonna make a way
In April, Reddick updated fans, celebrating that Rebecca was cancer-free.
“The surgery successfully removed all of the colon cancer and because of this report, she will not have to undergo any additional treatment at this time,” he wrote on Instagram.
“We know not everyone gets to wrap up their cancer diagnosis with surgery and not need additional treatment and for those in that situation — we cover you in prayer,” he added. “We know the power in community and prayer for us — and pray His Spirit continue to be with you as well.”
