Jonathan Roumie Appeals to Younger Generations: The Fight for Life Is ‘Far From Finished’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Jonathan Roumie, who has won widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Jesus in the popular biblical series, THE CHOSEN, recently gave a speech at the 2023 March for Life.

The actor opened his rousing speech with a short, three-word statement: “God is Real!” He then went on to say, in no uncertain terms:

God is real and he is completely in love with each and every one of you. How do I know this?….God is real and he is completely in love with you because you are all here today. History has been made, life has triumphed in an extraordinary way, and the light of the world, who is Jesus Christ, the author of life, his light has burned so very brightly within each and every one of you, irrespective of your specific beliefs, compelling you forward for one reason or another to stand together today and fight the noblest and worthiest cause possible which is to allow the unborn the right to enter into the world and defeat those earthly forces which seek to destroy the very evidence of them.

Roumie went on to quote Psalm 139 and to warn against Satan’s reaction to the overturning of Roe vs Wade:

“For you formed my formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”

[The fight for life] is far from finished….Just as God is real, Satan is also real….And he’s not about to give up this fight either….So he’s throwing everything that he has at the world and all of us in it, and countless are being deceived as a result.

He continued, specifically appealing to the current generations of young Americans, saying: “But remember my dear friends, we know how the story ends: God won. He won and Christ reminds us that he is with us until the end of the age…..[Now] we need to take a quick glance into the mirror of culture which communicates a few concerns about where we are as a society”.

He spoke powerfully to Gen Z and Gen Alpha of their power to shape the future of western culture, either into a culture of life or an “anti-culture of death” (See Philip Rieff, The Triumph of the Therapeutic, p. 23 and Sacred Order-Social Order Vol. I: My Life Among the Deathworks, p. 6-8).

Ending with a personal perspective of how the “anti-culture of death” has brought a dark and sinister tone to the world of cinematic entertainment, he mentioned the new overt prominence of “the occult” in films and series, which Movieguide® has tirelessly addressed, and implored Americans to reverse this disturbing trend.

May the words of Jonathan Roumie in this important speech inspire Americans to oppose evil and walk in the light in every part of their lives.
