Actor Josh Duhamel is prepared for the apocalypse — well sort of.
In an interview with PEOPLE, the RANSOM CANYON star shared how he’s getting ready if there were a catastrophic event.
“Well, I have enough,” Duhamel said in regard to his preparation. “Not 100%. Probably 70%.”
He admitted that there are some skills he needs to improve, just in case.

“I could be a better hunter. I could be a better fisherman. I could stockpile a little more food supply,” he said.
Duhamel first purchased his Minnesota property many years ago, in part, as an escape from Hollywood. “I make movies and TV shows, and I love it, I truly do love it, but I had this calling…to go and really do things with my hands again — fix things, make things, and just do the basic things that we take for granted,” he said.
At the end of the day, his “prepping for the apocalypse” narrative is mainly a joke.
“But the truth is, yes, people want to call it a doomsday prepper thing, but it’s really not that,” Duhamel explained. “I’m really more of a guy who wants to stay true to my roots, get back to the basics, hone whatever basic skills I need.”
He added, “I don’t think that we’re in any dire situation that we have to worry about prepping for doomsday, but it is good to have some of those skills. I was getting so far away from it for so long, that I felt like I wanted to get back to some of that.”
Duhamel is the father to two sons, Axl, 12, and Shepherd, 19 months.
“My son is going to have memories of this place forever,” he told Parade of his property earlier this year. “He’s not on his iPad when he’s out there. He’s out there in the boat with me, or he’s playing soccer on the beach, or he’s out there in the woods doing whatever I’m doing. And then I have a little baby who’s going to experience the same thing.”
He loves being a dad.
“There’s always something new,” he said of fatherhood. “I just love being a dad. I love every single milestone.” He celebrated his wife Audra Mari and shared how he hopes to expand their family: “She’s a great role model, and hopefully we have another one. Hopefully a girl, maybe another boy. We’ll see.”
While Duhamel isn’t really doomsday prepping, his Minnesota home is a place to teach his kids important skills and a safe place to share quality time together.
