Julie Andrews to Debut Podcast Where She Reads Children’s Books

By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor

Julie Andrews will debut her podcast this week titled, “Julie’s Library” where she will read children’s books aloud.

“When I became a parent, I passed the love of reading on to my children. My daughter and I have co-authored over 30 books for children and young adults, and our shared passion for the power of storytelling, literacy, and the arts remains fervent,” Andrews told American Public Media (APM).

APM will produce Andrew’s podcast, which will debut on Wednesday April 29, 2020.

Andrew’s daughter Emma Walton Hamilton will join THE SOUND OF MUSIC alum on the podcast. Some of their joint children’s books include The Very Fairy Princess and Dumpy the Dumptruck.

The timing of the podcast release is appropriate, considering Mother’s Day is just around the corner.

APM reported that the pair will read selections from their favorite books and will feature guest stars on every episode.

In 2019, while promoting the memoir “Home Work: A Memoir of My Hollywood Years” with Andrews, Hamilton reflected on her famous mother on GREAT DAY HOUSTON.

“For me, she was just ‘Mom’ and [acting] was her day job.”

Hamilton added, “She was always good about making home feel normal and homey.”

According to APM, Andrews will release six episodes in light of COVID-19 but will hold off until later in 2020 to air more content.
