TRACKER Star Loves This About Hit Show
By Movieguide® Contributor
TRACKER star Justin Hartley is opening up about what he loves about his show.
“It’s been a lot of people saying that they can watch the show with their whole family, which is really important to me,” he said of his favorite fan interactions. “I think that’s so cool. It’s hard to do nowadays, too, to produce a piece of material that is universally loved — men, women, children — you know. And you can sit down with your whole family and watch it, so I really enjoy that.”
TRACKER made its debut right after the Super Bowl earlier this year.
“When the situation is dire and time is of the essence, there’s only one man who can step in and save the day: Colton Shaw. TRACKER, based on the bestselling novel The Never Game by Jeffrey Deaver, features Shaw in his element, being called upon to save lives in desperate situations,” a synopsis reads.
Thanks to its storyline and fan interest in Hartly (he previously starred in THIS IS US), the series took off.
“Not only is TRACKER the most-watched new series in the 2023–2024 seasons, it is also the most-watched network television show overall. TRACKER performs better than established dramas like GREY’S ANATOMY, NCIS, and CHICAGO FIRE and popular sitcoms such as YOUNG SHELDON and GHOSTS,” Screen Rant reported.
Hartley’s success comes down to being willing to take risks.
“That doesn’t mean be careless or reckless at all, you know. There’s a big difference between taking chances and being measured about it and being safe about those chances and being reckless and careless,” he explained. “You may leap and not get it, but you know, what you will end up with [is] no regret. At least you won’t be sitting here going, ‘I wonder what would have happened.'”
TRACKER Season 1 ended mid-May and left fans eager for more. Season 2 will premier on CBS on Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. ET.
Movieguide® previously reported on TRACKER:
CBS drama TRACKER has seen the most success after its first season on the air. The show, which stars THIS IS US star Justin Hartley, was this season’s “most-watched entertainment series.”
Variety reported, “TRACKER was helped, of course, by premiering in February behind SUPER BOWL LVIII — giving it a huge jump start. And this was an unusual, truncated TV season due to the Hollywood strikes, which meant limited episodic orders for most programs.”
TRACKER’s success was the “first time a first-year TV series was ranked as the No. 1 show since SURVIVOR premiered as an instant phenomenon in 2000,” Uproxx reported.
