Kendrick Brothers Announce New Movie, Highlights Stories of Faith
By Movieguide® Contributor
The Kendrick Brothers have started work on a new movie that returns to their roots and highlights stories of faith from Albany, Georgia.
“Albany is where our filmmaking journey began; we love our hometown and are excited about partnering with the great people in our city, many of the local businesses and the vibrant church community,” Stephen Kendrick shared.
“Why not come back to Albany?” he added. “So we discussed the new restaurants, the hotels. There are a lot of new opportunities that have happened in Albany since we shot COURAGEOUS.”
“Writing the script is a lot of work,” said Stephen Kendrick. “We do a lot of research, and as ministers of the Gospel, and as people know, the truths of Jesus can transform people’s lives. It’s so important for us to not only incorporate the entertainment value of storytelling but also truth that will nourish the hearts of the audiences as they watch the films.”
To bring the project to light, the brothers partnered with the Albany Dougherty Economic Development Commission, the Albany Convention and local businesses like Cornerstone Coffee, WALB News 10 reported.
Georgia Entertainment added, “While we are ecstatic to have The Kendrick Brothers bring their film home, the true benefit is the inclusion of our businesses and local talent,” said Executive Director of the Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau, Rashelle Minix, “from local hotels to Downtown restaurants, construction set builders, film students, attractions, and facilities their investment in our community will have lasting economic benefits “
Cornerstone Coffee owner Stanley Franklin – who is featured in the movie – is thankful the Kendrick Brothers care so much about the city, and he hopes the movie will bring more life to downtown Albany.
“Well, what I’m hoping is that when people watch this film, that they will be inspired, just like people were inspired [by] WAR ROOM. I don’t have any details on the movie, but what I’ve gathered is that the films that they make are transformational. So seeing something like that and being in the city, I hope people take pride in being from Albany and brag and say ‘Yeah, that’s my city.’ And bring back city pride,” Franklin said.
The movie is currently slated to release in August 2024.
Movieguide® previously reported on the Kendrick Brothers:
The director of Movieguide® Award-winning movies like COURAGEOUS said that he and his brother, Stephen, see their work as ministry.
“The more I got into telling stories in the form of feature films and books, Scripture was jumping out at me, and the Lord was pointing to the passages that talk about when you see a Pharisee or someone praying on the street corners to be seen by men, Jesus said that’s the only reward they’ll ever get,” Kendrick said on a recent episode of the ‘The Women in My World’ podcast. “They’re not getting something from the Lord when they are [trying] to be seen by men.”
“I started thinking, ‘Lord, I don’t wanna do these movies or books or speaking just to be seen by men,’” he added. “I had to arrange, even in my own heart, what type of success was motivating me.”
