Kevin Quinn’s New Single Focuses on God Amid Battle with Depression

By Movieguide® Contributor

Christian breakout artist Kevin Quinn just released a new single, “I’m Not There Yet,” a song about his relationship with God amid a battle with depression.

The song’s lightly picked acoustic melody and soft strings underline Kevin’s warm delivery as he stares down depression in a moment of acceptance and acute self-awareness,The Christian Beat wrote on Friday.

“I’m Not There Yet” is the second song on Quinn’s anticipated album, “Real Me.” His first single, “Blessed,” came out on Nov. 3.

Some of the lyrics from “I’m Not There Yet” read:

Have I hit my ceiling

Or am I in my feelings

No it ain’t that easy

When you know that something’s wrong

God I hope you hear me

What’s taking you so long

Oh I don’t know where I’m going

But I know I’m not there yet

I know I’m not there yet

Now every time I wander off the path

You always lead me back

To where I belong

The singer also just made his debut on the Kelly Clarkson show on Nov. 27. Movieguide® reported:

Former Disney star and A WEEK AWAY actor Kevin Quinn just performed “Blessed,” the first track of his upcoming album “Real Me,” on THE KELLY CLARKSON SHOW.

“While creating my song ‘Blessed,’ God was teaching me the importance of recognizing blessings as they’re happening,” Quinn explained on Instagram. “We tend to not really see them when we have them…because we already have them. Why would we need to notice them?”

“But the truth is, we have so many blessings at any given time that we have to notice them. If we don’t, how would be know it’s a blessing?” he added.

Quinn landed in music and media after he auditioned for American Idol at age 15. After a lead role in Disney’s BUNK’D and a spot in Netflix’s musical A WEEK AWAY, Quinn now focuses his energy on music.

Tongue Tied Mag reported, “In 2020, Quinn was ecstatic to begin the next steps of his career journey by signing with Capitol Christian Music Group. While working through the universal difficulties and personal hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic, Quinn was determined to channel his rollercoaster experiences into the new music he has been cooking up the past few months.”

Quinn said, “I love to experiment with a lot of different sounds and styles. I’m really excited about this new chapter with music because it feels like it’s all working together. Being able to exercise that creativity with what I love is such an awesome experience!”

His new album, “Real Me,” comes out on Jan. 19, 2024.
