Kirk Cameron and Sisters Explore Family Dynamics

Actor Kirk Cameron recently reposted a past interview with his siblings Candace Cameron Bure, Bridgette, and Melissa. Pure Flix Insider responded by also reposting the interview, saying that it “has got us reminiscing about one of our favorite interviews with Pure Flix.”
In the interview, the four siblings spoke about “everything from their upbringing to raising their own growing families.”
The interview began with Kirk asking his sister Melissa to explain her role as a mother.
“Jason and I, we have our five kids and we’ve chosen to home-educate them. With home-educating them, I would say, the biggest lesson that I’ve learned in it and what I love the most about it is it gives us time with them… we are hardly ever rushed into doing anything and I get to delight in them and enjoy them and tie strings with them and watch them grow,” Melissa shared.
After speaking with Melissa, Kirk turned to his sister Bridgette. “You had actually a really interesting experience with your third baby and not many people have ever heard that story,” Kirk said.
Bridgette shared that early in her third pregnancy, she began to bleed. Devastated and assuming a miscarriage, she went to the hospital, and around that time, she had a phone call with her mom. “’Bridgette whatever you do, do not let the doctors take you into the OR,’ [said my mother] and I said ‘Mom, they’re prepping me to go in and to do a procedure.” Her mom insisted she get an ultrasound before letting the doctors do anything.
Bridgette continued, “They did the ultrasound and the nurse looked at me and she looked at the ultrasound or the machine she looked at me again and she looked at the machine and I go ‘what?’ She started crying and she said ‘you’re still pregnant.’” Bridgette later discovered that she had been pregnant with twins and miscarried one of them, and that God used her mom’s voice to save the remaining twin.
Next in the discussion was Candace. She shared about the joys of parenting, and the differences of each season.
“You invest all these years in your children and they’re such a huge part of your life,” Candace shared, explaining that she enjoys the teenage stage the most. “I so enjoy the adult conversations that I have with my kids. I like seeing who they’ve grown into as young men and women and how they’re going to influence the world and what they’re going to do with their lives.”
Candace further explained, “It excites me to see them fly the coop and I’m going to miss them terribly. I hope we’re all still within the same city. I mean we do everything together so it’s hard, but I’m so excited for them.”
Despite the criticism the Cameron family has received, the siblings continue to use their platform to speak about family morals and the love of God. According to cinemablend.com, Candace spoke with her brother Kirk at another time about the varying opinions on their family.
“I feel because God gives each and every one of us self-control, that’s something that we need to have when we’re in those hot topics and divisive conversations,” Candace shared. “A lot of times I know our emotions can want to jump out first, but it’s so important to represent Christ well. And I think that means taking a pause, taking a breath. Take a beat. Consider the other perspective, where they’re coming from. Take a second to pray and then speak your voice, speak your opinion.”
