Korie Robertson Calls THE BLIND ‘A True Labor Of Love’

Korie Robertson is reflecting on the impact THE BLIND has had on viewers.
“It was a true labor of love,” she told The Christian Post. “It was our first feature film for our production company, Tread Lively, and about our family, so it felt really important that we get it right, and so it was just such a great, exciting time for us to just get it out there and let people see it.”
THE BLIND is Phil Robertson’s biopic, telling the story of how he overcame alcoholism and dedicated his life to his family and his faith.
“I think a lot of people knew our story,” Korie said of the movie’s details. “But to see it on a screen is a whole different thing.”
THE BLIND went on to make over $17 million at the box office, making it Fathom Events’ highest-grossing release ever. Movieguide® previously reported:
DUCK DYNASTY’s Phil Robertson is celebrating the massive success of his biopic THE BLIND, Fathom Events’ highest-grossing release ever.
“They told me people don’t go to the theater to watch hard stories like THE BLIND these days. Well, my story is about as messy as they come, but I said if just one person gets to know Jesus in that theater, it’s worth it,” Robertson posted on Instagram.
He continued, “Turns out THE BLIND is reaching a mighty throng of individuals, and Hollywood is taking notice that this is a message you want to hear: You’re never too far gone. God can reach you wherever you are and no matter how dark things have gotten. And however hopeless you feel, there is always hope in Jesus.”
“From the beginning, we knew how special this film was, and we were eager to support it in the best way possible,” said Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events. “Giving the film a longer theatrical run was a great decision for Fathom because of how important it was to bring this message to the fans – it resonated with so many people, which is why THE BLIND has had such staying power.”
Speaking about the movie’s popularity, Korie explained, “It said more about what people are searching for, what people wanted to see: a family that’s real and has faith and that comes together and that’s not perfect, that doesn’t try to pretend that we have it all together, but at the end of the day, will sit around a dinner table and thank God for what we have, and we tried to show that in the movie.”
She also shared that the “one of the greatest rewards” of making THE BLIND has been hearing stories about people who were baptized after seeing the movie.
“The response was phenomenal,” Korie’s husband, Willie, told The Shreveport Times. “Stories [poured] in of standing ovations, baptisms and post movie gatherings all over the country.”
Phil also commented on the impact THE BLIND has had on audiences, writing on Instagram, “If anything brings me to tears, this is it. I’ve baptized a lot of people in the name of Jesus. But in 50 years, the one thing I’ve never seen is young people getting baptized right after seeing a movie. Lord Jesus, let this break out nationwide when people watch THE BLIND this weekend.”
