Lindsay Lohan Says She’s ‘Loving’ Being a Mom: ‘Biggest Blessing’
By Movieguide® Contributor
MEAN GIRLS actress Lindsay Lohan may have recently starred in a new rom-com, but lately, she’s also busy being a new mom.
“After a busy few months with work, it’s great to be back home in time for my first Mother’s Day!” Lohan wrote on Instagram last week. “I’m loving the little things with my baby, from walks and baths to our feeding times together. New parents, it may not always be easy, but just know you’ve got this!”
Movieguide® reported on her experience as a new parent on March 8:
“Everything’s changing,” she told E! Online. “It’s a learning process — I’m having a different go at it. Figuring out what I want to do and how I want to do it.”
One of those changes is the type of movies she plans to work on in the future.
“I want to do things that my son can see,” Lohan explained. “But I also want to do things that inspire me.”
Lohan gave birth to son Luai last year. She shares him with her husband, Bader Shammas.
On Mother’s Day, the actress posted, “It’s my first Mother’s Day and I couldn’t be more grateful to be a mom. It’s been the biggest blessing life has offered me.”
Lohan’s mother, Dina Lohan, told PEOPLE that she cried when she first held her grandson and called him a blessing from God.
“She was always meant to be a mother. Bader took to the role of daddy like a pro as well,” Dina said of Lohan and her husband. “They are a perfect team.”
Lohan rose to fame as a child. The 37-year-old performed in the ’90s THE PARENT TRAP remake, HERBIE FULLY LOADED, FREAKY FRIDAY, MEAN GIRLS and others.
Eventually, Lohan gained a reputation as a party girl. She went to jail six times and struggled with substance abuse. This negatively impacted her career as an actress. After a ten-year break, she made her first reappearance last year in Netflix’s FALLING FOR CHRISTMAS.
In her latest role, she performed as author-editor Maddie in Netflix family-friendly rom-com IRISH WISH.
Part of Movieguide®’s review of the movie reads:
IRISH WISH is silly fun. The script actually has several laugh-out-loud moments. Also, Director Janeen Damian keeps things popping with some surprisingly good physical comedy. She inspires Lohan to deliver the fun she showed in her heyday, with a vibrant supporting cast. IRISH WISH has a strong Christian worldview with positive references to God and church, and a highly positive view of marriage. There’s only brief upper male nudity and a light profanity that’s immediately corrected by the priest. IRISH WISH is enjoyable fun for all ages.
Lohan’s 1998 movie, THE PARENT TRAP, won a Movieguide® Teddy Bear Award the following year.
