Matthew West is giving fans a little taste of his new song, “Unashamed.”
“I don’t normally do this, I’ll wait till a song’s finished to play it for people, but I told the crowd I got this song I’m working on called ‘Unashamed,’” he recalled in a YouTube Short.
“And just acapella, I sang the chorus, ‘I’m unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ…for the one who took my shame, I’m unashamed,’ and the crowd just started cheering like that was their battle cry, too.”
He hopes that it will be an anthem for Christians who feel unashamed of their Lord and Savior.
“This is what I’m about and I want the whole world to know I’m not gonna be quiet about it,” West said.
He recently shared a clip of him playing part of the song for a crowd and announced on Facebook: “Love the reaction Unashamed has been receiving this summer. World Outreach Church were the first to hear it back in April and you will get to hear it on 10/4.”
Movieguide reported on another new song of West’s with Anne Wilson:
Matthew West released “Last Page of the Bible” featuring Anne Wilson on Friday, and it’s an impactful reminder about why you’ve got to hold on to hope.
“This song is inspired by the late Billy Graham who famously said, ‘I’ve read the last page of the Bible and it all works out in the end.’ ?” West shared in an Instagram clip on Friday.
“’Last Page of the Bible’ was an idea thatI actually brought in to the great Anne Wilson…It feels like rock and roll,” he said.
Both new songs are a part of West’s new album, Don’t Stop Praying, which releases on Oct. 4.
Other tracks on the album that are currently available are its title song, “Don’t Stop Praying,” “18 Summers” and “Chosen.”
Unreleased tracks are “My Why,” “Life is Good,” “Goodbye Yesterday,” “God’s Hand,” “The Place Only We Know,” Breakthough’s Coming” and “To Be With Jesus.”
West will embark on his tour for the record on Oct. 30.
