‘Never Seen a Show Like This’: Property Brothers Talk BACKED BY THE BROS

Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott are sharing some details about their new show, BACKED BY THE BROS.

“You’ve never seen a show like this on HGTV because these people are literally at the brink, where they’re going to lose everything,” Jonathan said during an appearance on the TODAY show. “We’re coming in to try and rescue them.”

A description of the show from HGTV reads, “[The Scott brothers] relinquish total control of renovations to advise entrepreneurs, short-term rental owners and residential developers on high-stakes investment properties. To get each project across the finish line in an unforgiving housing market, Drew and Jonathan will back investors with their professional expertise, experience, insights and resources.”

Drew emphasized that BACKED BY THE BROS sees him and his brother taking a backseat during the renovation process.

“These are their projects, and we’re trying to support them, so we’re not coming in and taking the reins,” he explained. “It’s still theirs, and we’re trying to assist them and bring our resources.”

In another interview, Jonathan shared that, when finding people to spotlight on BACKED BY THE BROS, the Scotts were looking “for people who need our help to reach their full potential as property investors and who we can benefit the most. If we don’t think our services will be enough, we won’t back them.”

“We have a lot on the line, too. Our time, reputation, and resources, which are not unlimited,” Drew added. “We are here to support, not take the reins.”

“The massively popular home-reno and real estate siblings have set two new series with their longtime Warner Bros. Discovery-owned cable home, BACKED BY THE BROS and DON’T HATE YOUR HOUSE WITH THE PROPERTY BROTHERS, both working titles. Additionally, HGTV has renewed the brothers’ popular CELEBRITY IOU for a seventh season,” Variety reported.

In BACKED BY THE BROS, the Scott brothers will help beginner entrepreneurs with investment properties. In DON’T HATE YOUR HOUSE, they will help homeowners make their near-unlovable homes more attractive and liveable.

BACKED BY THE BROS will premiere on HGTV on June 5 at 9/8c.
