Warning! New ‘Dragon Age’ Video Game Pushes Transgender Ideology
By Movieguide® Contributor
While parents have many reasons to be watchful of the content their kids consume, one of the major concerns is the liberal agendas that are pushed into entertainment, something that is very present in the new “Dragon Age: The Veilguard” video game.
“The Veilguard” is the fourth game in the Dragon Age fantasy RPG series which has players saving kingdoms from evil, time and time again. In each iteration, players can customize their characters such as changing their appearance, race or gender, with a non-binary gender option available in the newest game.
While the inclusion of a non-binary option is already a cause for concern, it’s in line with many games’ customization menus where transgender options have become the standard. “The Veilguard,” however, takes things a step further by including special dialogue and a scene where a character is punished for misgendering a person, regardless of the player’s gender.
The scene in question has one character misgender another and does a set of pushups as a punishment before apologizing. The scene is so over the top and overt that even mainstream media sources have called it out as “preachy” and a “misstep.”
“Frankly, it’s written so poorly that it comes across as self-parody,” Erik Kain wrote for Forbes. “The character’s performative apology is shallow and empty, as all performative apologies are. In my experience, a simple and genuine ‘sorry’ is better than making a big show of it and then bragging about how much better your apology is.”
Unfortunately, more and more media sources have become comfortable shoving scenes like this down audiences’ throats. However, audiences have not blindly accepted the teachings. Rather, they have chosen different content where they don’t receive this treatment.
Disney, for example, has all but lost its audiences’ trust after releasing years of movies that push a liberal agenda. These movies, however, failed to find any success, forcing the company to return to its family-friendly roots. Though it still attempts to sneak its agenda into its stories, it has found that it cannot blatantly do so in anything successful.
