A New Show Might Be in the Works From SEAL TEAM’s David Boreanaz
By Movieguide® Contributor
David Boreanaz is sharing what he’s up to these days as SEAL TEAM comes to an end.
“I am watching a lot of THE SOPRANOS right now,” the actor joked, before adding that he is developing a series he’s writing and could possibly star in and produce.
Boreanaz said, “I’m really good at the dialogue writing. I’m very good at that. I’m getting better at structure. You know, it is work in progress for me. But I love character breakdowns. I love, you know, story pointing, and all that stuff. So creating, yes. I am very good at creating.”
It’s no surprise the actor is already looking for his next project. Boreanaz has consistently starred in TV shows since his 1997 debut in BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, followed by ANGEL and BONES.
“To be honest with you, I like work,” he told TV Line. “My mentality ticks towards work; I don’t idle very well. And when I think of taking some time off…I don’t know what that would be like. Maybe that’s something I have to meditate on because I really love working and I love the creative process.
Boreanaz continued, “I value being an executive producer on shows and working as a director. It’s a triple threat for me. There’s a lot of stuff that goes on that people aren’t aware of, so for me there’s more than just ‘hitting a mark,’ and I pride myself in that. Being able to deconstruct scripts, rewrite dialogue, bring ideas to the table that are actually going into the storyline… what makes sense and what doesn’t…Whether it’s producing or acting or directing, I love all of it.”
Production has wrapped on the final season of SEAL TEAM, but a premiere date has yet to be announced.
In a statement about the show’s end, Boreanaz said, “For six seasons I have been fortunate and blessed to be a part of an outstanding cast and crew. Every day spent was a note of thanks to our men and women in the military and Special OPS. I thank our fans, and I’m proud we were able to make this show to shine light in the darkness toward so many suffering today. I look forward to season seven and the opportunity to end this series with love and gratitude.”

Anxiously awaiting news of the seventh and final season of SEAL TEAM? Here’s everything we know so far.
Paramount+ announced the show would be returning for another season in January 2023. In November of the same year, the streamer revealed it would also be SEAL TEAM’s final season.
Plots for the seventh season are unknown, but many fans assume new episodes will explore the fallout from Season 6’s finale.
Per TV Line, “Upon returning home from deployment—having missed Clay’s (Max Thieriot, now on Fire Country) funeral, Jason (David Boreanaz) was given and accepted the Navy Cross—and used the opportunity to speak publicly about his TBI and his fallen friend’s work to change the military’s views on them. Then, when he had to face command for his actions at the end of the finale, he was joined by Ray (Neil Brown Jr.), the rest of Bravo, and other SEALs who spoke up about their own struggles.”
Stars Boreanaz, Brown, AJ Buckley, Toni Trucks and Raffi Barsoumian are all set to return. Some new faces will be joining the cast as well, with Dylan Walsh playing Captain Walch and Beau Knapp playing Chief Petty Officer Drew Franklin.
