Singer Nicole C. Mullen celebrates 25 years of her anthem “Freedom” through a newly shot music video which will coincide with the national release of the new docudrama she stars in: THE AMERICAN MIRACLE: OUR NATION IS NO ACCIDENT.
“When I wrote ‘Freedom’ 25 years ago, I never imagined how powerfully it would speak to this moment. Seeing it woven into THE AMERICAN MIRACLE — a film that reveals God’s hand in our nation’s story — is a reminder that true freedom comes from Him and is always worth the fight,” Mullen said. “Portraying Mumbet brought that message to life in a profound way.”
Mullen’s “Freedom” recalls how the slaves fought for their freedom both before and after the civil war and how God was present through it all. Mullen’s other songs, “Redeemer” and “On My Knees,” are just as powerful and represent a career that has led to two Grammy nominations, among other awards. The singer became a Christian at the age of 18 and works to glorify the Lord in everything that she does.
“‘Redeemer’ was a song that I started after I was reading the Book of Job,” she previously told I Am Second. “I would sit on my bed, and I would play my little guitar. I would sing the song that God was giving me in the place of great pain…It was my statement of faith. It was also my war cry; it was my battle cry.”
The new music video for “Freedom” is released alongside the docudrama THE AMERICAN MIRACLE which follows the bestselling book by Michael Medved that explores the role of divine providence in the early history of America.
Along with Mullen, THE AMERICAN MIRACLE stars Pat Boone, Kevin Sorbo, Cameron Arnette, Libby Smallbone and James Arnold Taylor. It also features insights from leading historians and scholars such as Richard Dreyfuss, Robert P. George, Akhil Reed Amar, Paul Kengor, Joseph Ellis and Jana Novak.

“We’re in a terrible time of strife and anger and fear, I mean, there are protests taking place in streets and college campuses…” Boone told Fox News in April. “What we’ve got to do is realize that we are all human being and all of us have our own worth…we’ve got to come to that realization. If we disagree politically, biblically, spiritually, in any kind of way we disagree, we’ve got to give the other guy, or woman, credit for being a human being, with perhaps, good reasons for what they believe or stand for and not put each other down and be angry and want to destroy each other.”
Hopefully THE AMERICAN MIRACLE can serve as one of the things that helps reunite our nation as it reminds viewers of what makes the U.S. great and why we have a country worth fighting for in the first place.
