Ohio State Football Team Proclaims Gospel After National Championship Win
By Movieguide® Contributor
The Ohio State football team just won college football’s highest honor — the College Football Playoff national championship — but greater than that is the role they’ve played in the revival taking place on their campus and across college sports.
From a worship, prayer and baptism event to nearly every player taking a knee in prayer before the CFP semifinal, the Buckeyes have continued to put God first.

Their mission didn’t stop when they won the biggest game of their life.
Quarterback Will Howard told ESPN after their win, “First and foremost, I got to give the glory and the praise to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I wouldn’t be here without him…I can’t believe God gave me the chance to be a Buckeye.”
Running back TreVeyon Henderson echoed Howard after he was asked what winning the CFP National Championship meant to him.
“It feels good, but God is so much greater,” Henderson declared. “He’s what’s truly important. Our relationship with Him, that’s what matters the most. Keeping Him first, seeking His kingdom first and His righteousness. He’s faithful. He says He will never leave us nor forsake us when we put our faith in Jesus and accept Him into our hearts. And through all the hardships, and all the suffering He allowed me to go through, He was right there. He kept his promises. So I’m thankful, man, I’m thankful. Praise God.”

Linebacker Cody Simon was named the Defensive Player of the Game. He told ESPN in an interview, “The Lord did something special on this team. We’re just so thankful.”
Simon credited the “spirituality” of the Buckeyes as the thing that “brought us all together.”
Defensive end Jack Sawyer echoed Simon: “I can’t even put it into words. It’s the best feeling I’ve ever felt in my life. This is exactly what we had envisioned when we all decided to come back. To go out and do it this way and end on this note, we just thank God for giving us the ability to go out here and do it.”
