Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen prayed on field during and after his team’s game against the New Orleans Saints a few weeks ago.

In a video released on Instagram, Thielen prays with other teammates and players from the opposing team after the game on the 50-yard line.

The caption said, “Let’s take a moment to recognize a man who leads, a humble servant leader who and gives all glory to God our Father. A man on mission and whom others look up as a Captain of the #CarolinaPanthers.”

“We need more @athielen19 to publicly pray at halftime and then lead a postgame group prayer on center field. It appears to me that @athielen19 is on mission to #WinSoulsandMakeDisciples,” the caption concluded.

In another post Thielen shared on Instagram, he wrote, “GAMEDAY!! Thank you lord, every time I get to step on that field is a blessing and I am beyond thankful! LETSSS GOOOO #keeppounding.”

In 2018, Sports Spectrum reported that Thielen led the team in prayer at a chapel service.

“It’s never been necessarily the most comfortable thing for me because in some of those situations you’re like, ‘Oh man, am I really a good enough man of God to lead these guys in prayer?’” Thielen told Sports Spectrum. “But I think it’s something that God is testing me in, and [He’s] pushing me to be more outspoken [about] the Lord, to be able to handle those moments.”

Thielen credits his wife for keeping his faith strong.

“There’s a reason why He put my wife in my life,” the wide receiver shared. “She’s been my rock, she’s been my biggest supporter. I really don’t know what I’d do without her just because of all she does for our family, not just for me. And in my walk with faith. He’s put her in my life for a reason and I’m very thankful for that.”

But one of the biggest lessons Thielen has learned is to take situations one thing at a time, one day at a time.

The Bible tells people to not worry about the future but to focus on the present. Matthew 6:34 reads, “Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

“When I look back at my journey and how I’ve gotten to where I am,” Thielen explained, “I feel that if I would have looked too far ahead and thought about too much in the future, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today.”
