Parenting Gave Singer Ellie Holcomb This New Perspective On Faith
By Movieguide® Contributor
Singer and author Ellie Holcomb says being a mom has given her a new perspective on both her life and God’s love.
“One of my favorite things about being a mom is that you get to see the world again — through their eyes,” she told Crosswalk Headlines. “Everything feels new and fresh. It’s been so good for me as a grown-up.”
Holcomb shares three kids — Emmylou, Huck and Rivers — with husband Drew.
The singer said motherhood also reminded her of God’s role in her own life.
“We are, first and foremost, beloved sons and daughters of the most high God,” Holcomb explained. “And so, being a mom has helped me remember that before I’m even a mom, I’m God’s daughter, and He’s going to take such good care of me, and He’s going to take such good care of my kids, too. Man, what a freedom to know: We’re all just God’s kids, trying to make our way back home again. I am grateful for the freedom to be a kid, to mess up.”
Holcomb recently shared her faith in a new edition of her devotional, “Fighting Words.”
“It has been such a delight to hear from so many who have picked up my book, Fighting Words, and found comfort and hope in the promises of God laid out on these pages,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “It’s been even more wonderful hearing stories from so many people who have taken me up on the invitation to memorize scripture. Hearing how God has spoken through His word to so many of you through this book has been a gift I’ll never stop treasuring.”
Holcomb has also been opening for Lauren Daigle on her Kaleidoscope Tour.
“Lauren is a kindred spirit and dear friend, so to get to go on the road together feels like a dream,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’ve loved singing with people all over the place, and hearing y’all sing along. I’ve LOVED watching Lauren and her incredible band put on an amazing show in each city, each one special and unique. We are having a blast with her band and crew and my band and crew is incredible too!”
Movieguide® previously reported on Holcomb and Daigle’s musical partnership:
Lauren Daigle recently released the deluxe version of her self-titled album “Lauren Daigle,” and while it’s her first album that isn’t purely worship, she says it’s most vulnerable project she’s ever released.
However, one of the most popular songs on the album, “Be Okay,” was a direct result of this newfound freedom to describe personal struggles.
“’Be Okay’ is one that is really resonating [with fans]. A lot of people have reached out about that song,” she said. “From what I heard from the management side of things, they check the ratings of which songs are testing the best and things like that and ‘Be Okay’ is one. And I’m so glad because that song, I was able to write that with the beautiful Ellie Holcomb.”
