More and more parents rely on AI tools to help them juggle the stresses of parenting, from helping to stay organized to having someone to vent to in stressful moments.

“The idea of [using] AI felt overwhelming at first,” Olivia French, a mom of three in Fort Worth, Texas, told GMA. “Now, the idea of not being able to use it scares me.”

French said she uses the tech for everything from meal prep organization to figuring out ways to start hard or emotional conversations with her teenagers.

“My favorite way to use AI is to vent with Claude, Anthropic’s AI assistant,” Karima Williams, another mom, told the outlet. “There’s something freeing about being able to express all those messy feelings that come with being a parent, whether it’s being overwhelmed, feeling shame or like you’re failing.”

Other parents said they used the technology to make grocery lists, build schedules and create custom bedtime stories and scavenger hunts for their children.

“ChatGPT has become an indispensable tool for parents,” Leah Anise, consumer communications lead at OpenAI, told GMA. “It helps streamline daily responsibilities and spark creativity.”

Adam Lyons, partner and chief AI officer at chiefAIofficer.com, told Business Insider he uses AI as a way to answer his kids’ relentless “but why?” questions.

“I’ll answer the first three or four ‘but why?’ questions, then I hand it over to AI,” he said. “The computer system has relentless energy to answer questions from even the most persistent kid, and my children usually get tired out after a few minutes.”

However, these parents were quick to point out that they do not see the tech as a way to “outsource” parenting. Hannah Ryu, an AI strategist and mother of two, said, “AI can help take some of the mental load off so you have more time to actually be present with your kids.”

“It’s really about how you use it and balancing it with your own intuition and trusted expert advice,” she continued.

Robyn Koslowitz, a child psychologist, echoed these comments in an interview with Fast Company.

“Parents have a tremendous amount of self-doubt nowadays,” she explained. “Sometimes ChatGPT, or any other chatbot, steps in to take away decision-making. But the only way we learn discernment, and we learn to figure it out, is if we rely on our own judgment.”

While AI can make many of the little details of parenting more manageable, it’s important to heed experts’ advice and trust your own judgement when it comes to raising your child.
