Patrick Mahomes Claims Super Bowl MVP Title: ‘I Give God the Glory’

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in just five years.

Per The Christian Post, “The Chiefs secured their third Super Bowl victory in five seasons by coming back from 10 points down to secure a 25-22 victory against the San Francisco 49ers, the same franchise they beat in Super Bowl LIV in 2020. The Chiefs are the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls in the last 20 years since the New England Patriots did it in 2004 and 2005.”

Immediately after the win, Mahomes talked about what this Super Bowl win meant to him.

“It means a ton. Just the adversity we dealt with this year and to come through. The guys never faltered,” the quarterback said. “I give God the glory. He challenged us to make us better. I am proud of my guys. They did awesome. Legendary.”

He was the unanimous pick for Super Bowl LVIII’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).

He threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns. “He extended his franchise record for yards rushing in the playoffs with 66 more,” AP reported.

This isn’t the first time Mahomes has praised God after a major award.

When he earned the 2022 NFL MVP award, he said, “First, I want to thank God for giving me this platform and putting so many amazing people around me to help support this dream I’ve had since I was a little kid. Without him, none of this would be possible.”

Before his Super Bowl appearance last year, Mahomes once again spoke of his faith.

“My Christian faith plays a role in everything that I do,” he said. “I mean, I always ask God to lead me in the right direction and let me be who I am for His name. Obviously it will be on a huge stage in the Super Bowl that He’s given me and I want to make sure I’m glorifying Him while I do it.”

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes says he’ll praise God no matter the outcome ahead of his fourth Super Bowl appearance.

“I know that I’m on the football field to glorify Him before everything,” Mahomes said. “So it’s not about winning or losing, it’s about going out there and being the best that I can in his name.”

Mahomes has long been open about his faith, and especially before these larger games, he tends to speak about what the Lord has done in his life.

“Before every game, I walk the field, and I do a prayer at the goalpost,” Mahomes said before last year’s Super Bowl appearance against the Eagles. “I just thank God for those opportunities, and I thank God for letting me be on a stage where I can glorify Him. The biggest thing that I pray for is that whatever happens, win or lose, success or failure, that I’m glorifying Him.”
