Why Paul Rudd Wants to Meet Jesus: ‘Wouldn’t You Want to Spend Time With Him?’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Paul Rudd recently shared that the one person from history he would want to meet is Jesus and revealed the question he would ask Him.

While promoting his latest movie, Rudd and his co-stars, McKenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard, were asked, if they could go back in time, who is the one historical figure they would want to spend the day with?

“Anyone from history, who would we choose?” Rudd replied. “I know my answer: Jesus Christ.”

Grace and Wolfhard laughed, and the STRANGER THINGS star began to question if Jesus was “real.”

“He existed…so wouldn’t you want to spend some time with him and go, ‘Jesus, what’s the deal?’” Rudd said.

Wolfhard replied, “It’s true,” and said Rudd’s answer was “genuinely great,” while Grace agreed, saying it was “a fantastic answer.”

Rudd is Jewish and has previously spoken about his faith.

“My whole family is Jewish; my wife, Julie, is Jewish – there isn’t anyone in my family who isn’t Jewish,” he told the Jewish Journal. “I was bar mitzvahed Reform; we were pretty laid back, but it’s like, oh yeah, I went to synagogue…We have a lineage that is so many thousands of years old, that you just relate. It is a tribe; it’s like, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s my team,’ and I feel that for sure.”

The ANT-MAN actor is also a devoted father. He shares Jack, 17, and Darby, 13, with wife Julie Yaeger.

”When I think about myself, I think of myself as a husband and a father, like I’m that,” he told PEOPLE about his family life. “I just hang out with my family when I’m not working. That’s what I kind of like the most.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Rudd’s charity event, “The Big Slick,” that raises money for pediatric cancer research:

Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis and Rob Riggle were just three of the major celebrities who helped raise more than $3.5 million for pediatric cancer research in an event called “The Big Slick.”

Additionally, Eric Stonestreet, David Koechner, Heidi Gardner, and their celebrity friends participated in a softball game sponsored by the Kansas City Royals to raise the funds.

Big Slick was started in 2010 when Riggle asked Rudd and Sudeikis if they would host a poker tournament with him to raise money for children’s cancer research. Over the 14 years since, the annual charity event has grown to include a cocktail party, celebrity softball game, party, show, and an online auction.

“I think this might be the biggest turnout we’ve ever had,” Rudd said in an interview. “Every year, we hope for more. We’ve been at the hospital … and it feels bigger.”
