Cameron Mathison is sharing his excitement for ANOTHER SWEET CHRISTMAS, which is the first GREAT AMERICAN FAMILY movie to premiere in theaters.
Though his fans have seen him on the TV for decades, it was Mathison’s first time on the big screen, too.
“It really is exciting for me. And I was thinking about this too, because I’m sure a lot of actors are used to having their stuff come out in the theater,” he said. “But I’ve been doing TV for, like, 30 years.”
“So, I’m super excited about this. Great American Family’s really excited about this. Candace Cameron Bure, who’s my love interest in the movie. We’ve been like screaming it from the rooftops for people to go see this on the big screen,” he told ABC news.

The movie was available in theaters briefly earlier this month. It comes out on Great American Family on Dec. 20 at 8PM ET, and Dec. 18 on Great American Pure Flix, according to Parade.
In ANOTHER SWEET CHRISTMAS, Sam and Sophie shoot their own love story within the movie. In the movie they make, they get married, but while making it, Sophie thinks Sam is neglecting their real-life wedding.
According to the Movieguide® review, “ANOTHER SWEET CHRISTMAS is a wholesome, morally uplifting movie that’s pro-family and has brief references to the Birth of Jesus and God. The movie is reasonably engaging, but the jeopardy should have been stronger. For example, whenever there’s a problem with finishing the movie or with Sam’s plans to surprise Sophie with a real wedding ceremony, the problem’s too quickly solved. So, there’s not enough suspense in ANOTHER SWEET CHRISTMAS.”
Mathison adds, “and oh my gosh, she’s too focused on work and is it going to happen? So, you have to watch to find out.”
Mathison loves the positivity he portrays through his character. It’s a refreshing change from his other long-time TV role.
“I work on General Hospital. My character there is literally the epitome of evil,” he explained. “It’s such a contrast, and I love both, like I really do love both, but there’s something about going on, spreading good messages, people know that they’re going to watch these movies, their heart is going to be warmed, and they’re going to feel good, and it’s just I get to be part of that, and what’s better than that?”
Mathison and Bure are already filming the threequel to the HOME SWEET CHRISTMAS movie series, in Budapest.
“I get to go, like in Budapest where there are Christmas markets… Then I come home and my kids and I, we’re going to go to Colorado in the mountains and you know that’s a Christmas movie in itself. Skiing and skating and enjoying it there with family. So it’s going to be Christmas all month long,” he said.
The untitled third movie in the franchise will come out sometime in 2026, per Great American Family.
