Candace Cameron Bure is currently filming the third HOME SWEET CHRISTMAS movie in Europe.
“I’ve never filmed in Europe before, so it is very exciting,” the Teddy Bear Award® winner told Us Weekly. “Sam and Sophie will take a European Christmas vacation to celebrate their first anniversary. They’ll stroll through the picturesque Christmas markets, castles and take in the beauty of Christmas in a way that only Europe has to offer.”
The movie won’t be ready in time for Christmas 2025, but will be in theaters in 2026.
“In this enchanting third story in the HOME SWEET CHRISTMAS franchise, Sophie and Sam embark to celebrate their first anniversary in picturesque Salzburg, a sprawling Christmas postcard town adorned with decorations and lights, a place one can almost smell the scents of mulled wine and gingerbread,” the logline reads. “What begins as a romantic first-year getaway quickly transforms into a lavish royal mystery when a charismatic hotelier draws the couple into a world of festive surprises.”

The couple will rediscover the true spirit of Christmas in the movie.
“I love that we are bringing stories of faith,” Bure told Us last year. “We have ones that aren’t about faith and more in the traditional rom-com space, but our viewers really want messages that are more meaningful. We know the reason we celebrate Christmas is because of the birth of Christ.”
She continued, “So, just the fact that we mention God or there’s a scripture or there’s a biblical message that might be a proverb, someone might hear it and go, ‘Oh, that’s really good advice.’ They might not realize it comes from the Bible, but we love putting that in the movies.”
The HOME SWEET CHRISTMAS sequel, ANOTHER SWEET CHRISTMAS, was briefly available in theaters until Dec. 2.
Bure’s HOME SWEET CHRISTMAS co-star, Cameron Matheson, says he loves working with Bure.
“She’s so funny,” Matheson told E! News. “She’s got a really, really, really great sense of humor. She’s laughing and cracking up all the time, never misses a beat to make fun of me in a playful way.”
He continued, “She’s just a riot. We had such a good time laughing — and I say that also acknowledging I was the butt of all the jokes.”
Bure is choosy when it comes to her Christmas movies. She’s looking for that special Christmas magic — which isn’t Santa Claus or reindeer.
She said, “Especially for Great American Family channel — where we lean into faith in our movies, and our tagline for the channel is, ‘Christmas as it’s meant to be’ — I’m looking for things that really touch the heart and have more purpose to them than just the magic of Christmas or the Santa Claus of Christmas.”
So if you watch a Bure Christmas movie, it’s almost guaranteed to be meaningful.
