Prime Video’s HOUSE OF DAVID Will Make You More Courageous

The HOUSE OF DAVID cast hope their series encourages viewers be courageous.
“I think the strength to protect what you believe is right, and that happens a few times throughout,” Martyn Ford, who plays Goliath, told Movieguide® of what stuck with him from the project. “It definitely happens to Goliath when he decides to stand up and fight, and it happens to David as well when he steps forward with all the fear that stands beside him and has the courage to face the ultimate challenge.”
He continued, “That’s what really sticks with me, is to try and take away from this experience for me personally and just carry on taking each day as it comes and to try and keep fighting…real life and real opportunities that come by being brave.”
Michael Iskander, the star who plays David, shared a special lesson he learned through one scene he performed in.
“It was a scene with Louis Farah who plays my father Jesse,” Iskander explained. “He was talking about the story of Joshua, and he says, ‘Be strong and courageous. Do not fear.’ That message has been replaying for me over and over and over, both to the character David and to me as a human being.”

“It resonates with me so much, and it provides so much context as to why David did the things he did, but it’s inspiring for me to take on the giants in my life, and hopefully the people watching the show, it inspires them to be strong and to be courageous and to stand up to their giants well,” he added.
Courage and overcoming the odds are central themes of HOUSE OF DAVID.
“There are few stories more recognizable than David and Goliath,” explained series creator Jon Erwin. “It’s become shorthand for any underdog tale and a symbol of courage overcoming odds. But what most people don’t know is the full depth of David’s journey. His rise to greatness didn’t happen overnight. His story is about more than just a young boy facing down a giant. It’s about the journey of becoming who you were always meant to be.”
HOUSE OF DAVID will release on Prime Video on Thursday, Feb. 27.
“HOUSE OF DAVID follows the once-mighty King Saul as he falls victim to his own pride,” the show’s logline reads. “A prophet prepares to overthrow him – anointing the outcast shepherd boy David as a second king. As Saul’s fury grows, David navigates love, violence and politics in the court of the very man he’s destined to replace. Two kings. One kingdom. The outcome is war.”
