Reba McEntire to Star in New Comedy HAPPY’S PLACE on NBC
By Movieguide® Contributor
Reba McEntire is returning to television in a new NBC series.
Per Variety, “NBC has given a series order to HAPPY’S PLACE, the Reba McEntire-led pilot the network ordered in January.”
Movieguide® recently reported on the upcoming series:
Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman are reuniting for a new sitcom.
The pair previously starred in REBA together. Now, they are set to work alongside each other in a still-unnamed NBC pilot.
“The pilot follows Bobbie (McEntire) who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had,” Deadline reported. “Peterman will portray Gabby, a bartender who has worked at the tavern for quite some time. She is a bit needy and dramatic and would have loved to be Bobbie’s sister.”
This isn’t the first time McEntire and Peterman worked together after REBA.
The two previously reunited “on CMT’s WORKING CLASS and Freeform’s BABY DADDY, as well as the Lifetime original movie THE HAMMER. Interestingly, while McEntire and Peterman both recur on CBS’ YOUNG SHELDON, sometimes appearing in the same episode, their characters—June Ballard and Brenda Sparks—have never crossed paths.”
On Tuesday, McEntire shared the news of the new series on her social media as she held up the script for the pilot.
“I can’t think of a better way to end the day…a new single and now a new sitcom. We’ll see you at #HappysPlace on @nbc soon,” she wrote.
Many fans commented their excitement for McEntire’s new project.
“Me and hubby have been rewatching REBA and laugh so hard every night. I grew up loving you for music and acting and i still love hearing you sing or just talk. You are one of kind! Love me some REBA any day,” one fan wrote on the post.
Digital creator Kortney Coleman commented, “The little girl in me is jumping for joy!!🥹🥰”
The series will be written and executive produced by Kevin Abbott as well as Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Julie Abbott and McEntire.
Along with McEntire, HAPPY’S PLACE will star Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and Rex Linn.
