‘Ronald Reagan’ Meets ‘Jesus’ Meet in Funny Viral Video

Dennis Quaid and Jonathan Roumie had some fun in a recent viral video showing what a conversation between Ronald Reagan and Jesus might look like.

Quaid’s upcoming biopic about Reagan where he portrays the former president releases at the end of August. Roumie plays the role of Jesus on THE CHOSEN. The two were brought together by Pastor Greg Laurie who introduced the video on X, formerly Twitter.

“Here’s a fun video. I was with Dennis Quaid and @JonathanRoumie recently. Since Dennis has a film coming out at the end of this month titled REAGAN where he plays the title role of the 40th president of the United States and Jonathan plays the role of Jesus so powerfully in THE CHOSEN, I had an idea,” Laurie wrote. “What if Ronald Reagan met Jesus? What would he say? What would Jesus say? It’s all meant in fun. Enjoy! I know I did when they did this.

“I was wondering if you could just help me out with the contras down in Central America,” Quaid jokingly asked as Reagan. “Nothing physical or anything like that, just kind of change their mind… and if you could talk to the Russians, I’d appreciate that too.”

“You’re asking for a lot,” Roumie quipped back, taking on the voice he uses to play Jesus in THE CHOSEN. “You want a few little things switched around just to make it easier for you?…Let me see what I can do.”

Quaid’s upcoming look at Reagan focuses on more than just his life in the public eye. It starts with his childhood in Illinois before following him to Hollywood and finally into the presidency.

“Portraying Ronald Reagan was an enormous challenge,” Quaid told The Daily Caller. “I think what’s going to appeal to the audience is you’re getting the whole story. I’ve always been told bits and pieces of the stories from Reagan’s life. This move puts the whole story together.”

“Reagan was my favorite president personally, and he was such a recognizable figure around the world, sort of like Muhammed Ali… He was the great communicator and all that,” the actor added while speaking with Fox News Digital. “I wanted to really kind of get to the core of who he was as a person.”

Roumie, meanwhile, continues his journey as Jesus on THE CHOSEN. Season 4 of the show was released to streaming last month, and filming for season five is well underway.

Dallas Jenkins is sharing his thoughts on showing Jesus’ humanity in THE CHOSEN’s Season 4 finale, as well as what fans can expect from Seasons 5 and 6.

“The story of Jesus is so interesting when you consider how humble he was, and how humble his kingship was,” THE CHOSEN’s creator told Variety. “They expected an earthly king. They expected him to take over and fight the Romans, and he was doing the opposite of that. We definitely wanted to contrast that [in the show’s portrayal of Jesus riding a donkey through Jerusalem].”

Jenkins also spoke about showing Jesus’ more human side, saying, “Jesus shows in the gospels multiple personality traits, and while we believe He didn’t sin, we also know that He felt all the things that we feel.

“It shouldn’t be a surprise that there are other moments in His life where He’s frustrated by the lack of understanding of the people around Him,” he continued. “He’s frustrated maybe even by His own humanity sometimes.”

That commitment to showing characters’ humanity is extended to everyone on the show, including the villains.
