Rumble Makes Joe Rogan a $100 Million Offer

By Movieguide® Contributor

YouTube competitor Rumble offered Joe Rogan $100 million for his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, “to make the world a better place.”

This offer mirrors the offer Spotify gave Rogan in 2020 of $100 million for 11 years of the podcast.

“We stand with you, your guests, and your legion of fans in desire for real conversation,” posted Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski on Twitter.

“How about you bring all your shows to Rumble, both old and new, with no censorship, for 100 million bucks over four years?” This follows heavy debate on censorship/misinformation and free speech after Rogan experienced backlash for COVID-19 vaccine misinformation and use of racial slurs in older episodes of his podcast.

Musicians Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and India Arie recently removed their music catalogs from Spotify in protest of Rogan. Spread of misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine was cited as the reason for Young and Mitchell.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek stated that Rogan’s comments were “hurtful” but argues that silencing people is not the proper response, instead promising to invest in a greater diversity of voices on the platform.

Rogan’s response was to remove more than 70 episodes from the Spotify podcast library.

“I can’t go back in time and change what I said, I wish I could, obviously that’s not possible, but I do hope this could be a teachable moment for anybody that doesn’t realize how offensive that word could be coming out of a white person’s mouth, in context or out of context.” Rogan said in his apology video to his 14.5 million Instagram followers.

Rumble’s merger partner CF Acquisition IV has already seen a 43% increase of shares after the public letter to Rogan. The final question is, will Rogan take the offer?
