Country music legend Ray Stevens is recovering after suffering a broken neck last month.
“He was briefly hospitalized in the Nashville area and is now recovering at home,” a press release shared, referring to his March 29 fall.
The statement shared that he will wear a neck brace for “approximately four weeks,” adding, “Despite the injury, he remains fully mobile and in good spirits as he continues his recovery.”

Despite his injury, Stevens’ latest album, Favorites Old & New, is still set to drop April 10.
The album is “a curated mix of beloved standards alongside new selections from a range of talented songwriters,” per a press release.
“I had a lot of fun creating this album, Favorites Old & New,” Stevens said of the project. “It really does contain a few of my favorite old songs as well as favorite new ones penned by some talented writers. I just hope Ray Stevens fans enjoy it as much as Ray Stevens!”
Stevens has previously released cover albums, including Great Country Ballads and Slow Dance.
“I chose some of the songs simply because they seemed like songs that nobody would record,” he told The Tennesseean. “I figured, these poor songs, they need somebody to take pity on them and make a record. See what the potential might be in some of these songs that are…forgotten.”
The country singer suffered a heart attack last year, telling fans in a statement he was “in recovery after undergoing minimally invasive heart surgery yesterday morning.”
“Last Friday evening, Ray complained of chest pain and was admitted to a Nashville hospital. After a heart catheterization procedure, it was determined he’d suffered a mild heart attack,” the statement continued. “Ray’s initial surgery was successful.”
Stevens has been in the music industry since 1957 and has gone on to be one of Nashville’s most sought-after producers and studio musicians, earning 11 Grammy nominations.
Speaking to Billboard about how the music industry has changed — and stayed the same — over the years, the country star said, “You still have to have talented people playing and singing, but the technology has changed so much. All the tracks you have now and ability to overdub without any tape noise… that’s just wonderful.”
Please keep Stevens in your prayers as he continues to recover from this injury.
