An accidental slip by TODAY’s Craig Melvin revealed some exciting and unexpected news about cohost Jenna Bush Hager.

During the April 8 episode of the show, the hosts were discussing THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 when Melvin casually revealed that Bush Hager would be appearing in the film. The unexpected comment immediately caught everyone off guard, especially Bush Hager, who appeared visibly shocked on camera

“By the way, you know how that movie’s going to be good?” Melvin asked. “You know how I can tell? JBH is in it!”

Bush Hager quickly told her cohost that she wasn’t sure if that was supposed to be public information.

“I don’t know that you were supposed to drop that bomb, but if you’re…”

Melvin quickly chimed in, “Cut it out for the other feeds! Sorry about that JBH.”

Savannah Guthrie joked that Melvin clearly couldn’t be trusted with secrets, while Al Roker suggested that the news was now officially public. Melvin, realizing his mistake, apologized on air and explained that he believed the information had already been made public.

Funny enough, Bush Hager and Guthrie dressed up as Anna Wintour and Miranda Priestly for this past Halloween. Wintour was formerly Vogue’s editor and chief and inspired THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA’s Priestly.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 will release on May 1, 2026, 20 years after the original movie. Starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, the sequel sees Miranda Priestly as she “nears retirement.” She reunites “with Andy Sachs to face off against her former assistant turned rival: Emily Charlton.”

Movieguide® gave the original THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA a somewhat positive review, though advised extreme caution for some worldview issues.

“THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA is funny and engaging. The dialogue is laugh-out-loud funny,” the review says. “It really shows a pagan world as the predominant force in the movie is achieving fame, fortune, success, clothes, and whatever else might feel good at the moment.”

It continues, “The female protagonist struggles with this but gives in too often. Eventually, she finds herself having sacrificed all of the person who she thought she was. Regrettably, her decision to change comes too little, too late to have any impact in the movie. All in all, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA is a funny movie that has some value in its message, but demands extreme caution.”

It will be fun to see what role Bush Hager plays in THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2!
