New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson has no intentions of leaving the NFL after this season.
“I’m not blinking,” he told the media when asked if he plans to retire after this season. “I know what I’m capable of. I think I showed that in Dallas [in Week 2], and I want to be able to do that again, you know, and just be ready to rock and roll and be as healthy as possible and be ready to play ball.”
Russell Wilson shares that he tore his hamstring the Friday before the Giants faced the Cowboys in Week 2. Wilson threw for 450 yards and 3 TD in the game

Wilson did not have the season he had hoped for. He started in just three games and struggled to perform. But lack of play wasn’t his only issue; he was also plagued by several injuries. The most severe was a torn hamstring in Week 2, right before the Giants faced the Cowboys. Wilson still started that game and secured 450 yards and three touchdowns.
“You know, I played that game, you know, I tore my hamstring on Friday in practice — the last play of practice. And I had a grade two [tear],” he said in the video. “I couldn’t tell anybody. I had to go and play on it just because I knew the circumstances, I had to play on it, no matter what. I actually ended up going to the Dallas Mavericks’ facility for training. And, you know, kept it quiet, just trying to get treatment on it and just knowing that I probably couldn’t run from the goal line to the 10-yard line if I wanted to, but I feel like, you know, I got to play this game.”
Wilson ended the season with only 69 completed passes of his 119 attempts with 831 total passing yards. His three touchdowns came in that game against Dallas.
Wilson signed a $10.5 million one-year contract with the New York Giants and will likely not be asked to return as Jaxson Dart took over the QB1 position.
This means that Wilson could likely end up with the New York Jets, as they no longer have a true QB1, CBS Sports reported. He could also go to the Cleveland Browns or the Kansas City Chiefs as they wait for Patrick Mahomes to recover from a torn ACL.
Wherever Wilson ends up next year, he has no plans on retiring just yet. In the meantime, he will continue to lean on his faith in God, enjoy his off-season and then get back to work to prepare for next season.
