Being a mom to littles — and trying to go on “vacation” with them — isn’t easy, but Sadie Robertson Huff wouldn’t trade those challenging moments for anything.
She recently shared an Instagram Reel from a family trip earlier this year that she forgot to post.
“It’s wild because Kit is 4 months old today,” she wrote on Dec. 1. “Looking back, I notice how much has changed in just 2 short months since this trip.”
Huff continued, “It was such a fun trip, but also a hard one for parenting 😅 anyone who has ever had a ‘vacation’ with a 2-year-old knows how it goes. 😂 I say it in quotes bc before kids, a vacation was when you go somewhere, rest, and you come back more energized. A vacation with a two-year-old you come back more tired… 🫣😂”
“Kit was also in the thick of the colic crying every single evening. I would be outside rocking, bouncing, shushing, singing, and everything in between for hours,” the mom of three continued. “We had also just come off of weeks of sickness. Not to mention being in the thick of postpartum in a swimsuit at the beach and lugging alllll the things each time we wanted to go down, ha!”

But despite the misadventures, Huff enjoys her memories from the trip.
“But you know what? The crying, the tantrums, the swimsuits, the lugging, etc, are certainly not the main memories from this trip. I actually kind of laughed thinking back on it because those are the faintest of thoughts now,” Huff reflected.
Instead, she remembers “A time I got to sit and enjoy the girls playing, ice cream runs every single day, looking into my newborns eyes and waiting for the smallest smile, uninterrupted family time, my grandma braiding my daughters hair, Christian throwing the football, card games…it was the best!”
If you’re a mom facing the challenges of life with little ones or are just going through a hard time, Huff wants to to know that there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
“I say this to say, whatever you’re facing right now that feels hard and never-ending will pass, and will probably pass sooner than you think,” she concluded. “Enjoy the good things that are intermingled with the hard seasons because one day you might be looking back at pictures and be amazed when you have the faintest of memories about how hard that time really was. And you’ll be glad you kept showing up anyways!”
Huff and her husband, Christian, felt extra grateful this Thanksgiving as they welcome daughter Kit over the summer.
“Thankful for our sweet family that @christian_huffand I get to raise! & most of all, thankful for God’s grace and love that He offers to all of us! Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🦃🤎,” Huff shared on Instagram.
When life feels hard, remember to hold on to the good things too.
