Pastor Samuel Rodriguez just launched a new production company, BeLight Productions, to bring hope and light to the movie industry.

“To God be the glory. Today I am blessed, honored, and genuinely excited to officially announce the launch of BeLight Productions,” Rodriguez posted on Instagram. “This has been a long season of prayer and preparation, and I truly believe God is calling us to make films that matter. Stories that strengthen faith, deepen compassion, awaken conscience, and celebrate redemption.”

“Film is one of the most powerful avenues for impact and cultural change,” he added in a press release. “Right now, our world needs to be reminded of the true and beauty of the Gospel and inspired to live in alignment with that truth. That is the goal for BeLight Productions. Through excellent movies, we want to join God in the work He is already doing to bring the world to Himself.”

He continued, “At BeLight Productions, we are developing powerful projects that shine light into the world’s darkness.”

Right now, BeLight Productions has several titles in the works: HAL, THE DREAM KING, CARMEN and LEAVING MEMPHIS.

Rodriguez previously served as an executive producer for FLAMIN’ HOT, which Movieguide® gave a -1. It follows “the life story of Richard Montañez, a Mexican American boy who becomes a very successful executive for Frito Lay by inventing flaming hot versions of Frito Lay snacks.”

The review continues:

FLAMIN’ HOT is a powerful story of how a poor person can succeed in a free market society. You can succeed if you put your mind to it, especially with a little help from your friends and family. The movie contains strong positive Christian content, though some Christians are hypocritical and must grasp the love of Jesus. FLAMIN’ HOT contains some reverse racism and white stereotypes, however, plus some foul language.

BeLight Productions joins a slew of faith-based production companies that have popped up recently.

Actress Patricia Heaton and her husband recently started Four Boys Entertainment.

“We named our company ‘Four Boys Entertainment’ because we wanted to leave a legacy for our kids,” she said. “We want to contribute something to culture that’s truthful but is grounded in hope, the hope that we have through our faith, that God is in control, and that all things work to the good of those who love the Lord.”

Actor Neal McDonough launched The McDonough Company with his wife, Ruve, earlier this month.

“The McDonough Company is focused on family, faith, and celebrating freedom,” he said.

With all these faith-forward production houses, we can expect to see more family-friendly movies, and that is a huge win for the entertainment industry.
