The first ever AI-generated Bible miniseries, HEROES IN THE BIBLE: RUTH, has a familiar face hosting each episode of the four-part series: TV personality and podcaster Savannah Chrisley.

“There’s no triumph without tragedy. The story of Ruth shouts that truth from the rooftops,” Savannah Chrisley said in a sneak peak trailer.

“How do we respond when everything seems lost, and how can the blossoms of love spring forth from rubble and ash?” she asked.

The series, the influencer said, shows that “love can, in fact, be found in loss. Redemption can be reclaimed after destruction.”

“HEROES IN THE BIBLE: RUTH is a tale of courage, devotion, and unexpected love set against the backdrop of ancient traditions and unimaginable tragedy,” Pray.com wrote in a statement. “With powerful themes of sacrifice, redemption, and hope, this dramatic retelling breathes life into a story where hearts are tested, faith is rewarded, and love triumphs in the face of adversity.”

Pray.com, an app that features daily prayer, devotions and podcasts — and boasts over 200 million downloads — originally experimented with AI in their podcast trailers.

“As our understanding deepened, it became clear that we could take it further — telling a complete Bible story entirely through AI,” Max Bard VP of Content said. “We’re incredibly proud of the result and excited to share more series like this in the future.”

While Bard is well aware of people’s wariness of AI’s growing ubiquity, he sees it as a way of “enhancing human creativity, not overshadowing it,” he told Carley Boyette of Christian Television Network.

“It’s a new technology, but as a tech company, we try to stay in front of all this tech, and a big part of that is learning it, researching it, understanding it, and utilizing it,” he added.

Along with Pray.com use of AI in their miniseries and podcasts, Bard says that pastors use Pray.com to translate their sermons into other languages.

“They put it into Pray.com and then what comes out is a search optimized title description and then they just have to click a couple of buttons for…Spanish or Korean or whatever language they want,” Bard said. “And then we’ll transcribe that and then distribute it for them.”

“That’s just a new way to really help people learn the Bible in a more entertaining way,” he continued.

Jon Erwin, creator of the series HOUSE OF DAVID, says that AI allowed for more creative freedom in making the show, which used AI along with “traditional tools.”

“Of the 850 VFX shots in season one of HOUSE OF DAVID, 73 shots were created using these [AI] tools as an engine to the car,” Erwin said. “These are a new set of paint brushes that, when placed into the hands of artists, especially when they’re together and collaborate, allow you to do things that were formerly impossible.”

As the use of AI in entertainment grows, it’s encouraging to see it used to make God’s name known.
