Disney has already started to phase out Hulu this month and will make it completely disappear later this year.
All of Hulu’s content will eventually be integrated with the Disney+ platform. The merge process has already begun for bundled subscribers. It started late last year, azcentral reported.
Hulu has already been removed from the Nintendo Switch eShop, Fox reported Jan. 7.
“The Hulu app is no longer available in the Nintendo Switch eShop with support for the application ending on February 5, 2026,” the company said on its website.
Hulu has been around since 2007 after entertainment conglomerates banded together to create an online platform for their own TV shows. Then Disney bought a 33% stake in Hulu from Comcast for over $8 billion in 2023, which gave it full control over the service.

Disney has not confirmed a specific date when Hulu will no longer be available, but it’s supposed to be in 2026.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said the merge will boost user confidence, streamline operations and reduce subscriber churn. Disney also hopes for more effective ad sales and more opportunities for cross-promotion, Newser reports.
“…while at the same time continuing to grow profitability and margins in our entertainment streaming business through expected higher engagement…” Iger announced in August.
“This will create an impressive package of entertainment, pairing the highest-caliber brands and franchises, great general entertainment, kids programming, news, and industry-leading live sports content in a single app,” Iger said.
This move puts Disney in a better position to compete with other app streamers that operate under a single-app model.
Hulu will replace Disney+’s “Star” brand/tile. Hulu Live TV will remain but will have a separate deal with Fubo.
Disney says its Disney+ app with Hulu integration will roll out with “enhanced personalization” and “exciting new features” that offer more variety and customization, Newser reported.
Hulu profiles and viewing history will carry over to the Disney+ app; however, the user experience will be different. Those on older plans or promotional bundles may have a price shift. Disney will move toward standardized bundle prices, but subscribers may see higher costs over time, as they have in the past.
Disney confirmed it will notify Hulu users and provide guidance amid the app transition.
As 2026 has just gotten started, this new transition will change how millions of subscribers use Disney+. As the merge progresses, subscribers can expect noticeable changes to how they access content and navigate Disney’s streaming ecosystem.
