THE CHOSEN Delays Season 4 Finale Release
By Movieguide® Contributor
The release of THE CHOSEN Season 4’s finale has been delayed.
The hit Christian TV series was set to stream its final episode on June 27 at 8:30 p.m. ET but has been postponed due to the first U.S. Presidential Debate, which will begin at 9 p.m. the same night.
THE CHOSEN creator Dallas Jenkins announced the change during a livestream event on June 23.
“It is no longer coming this Thursday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time. There’s a debate… Alright, let’s delay the season finale a few days,” Jenkins said. “Also, just because we want a little bit more time to get the word spread, and for you to catch up, or for your friends and family to catch up, on Season 4.”
Thankfully, the finale was only pushed back a few days and will now air on Sunday, June 30 at 7 p.m. ET.
Jenkins shared more on what fans can expect from the finale.
“We’ve got special guest Jonathan Roumie, some surprise cast members are going to stop by. It’s going to be an extravaganza, a cornucopia of delights, as they say. It’s going to be big, so we want to have a full week for you to really make sure everyone’s caught up on Season 4. So, you have a full week to watch all the episodes that your friends and family have missed,” he said.
Per Deadline, “Season 4 is billed as clashing kingdoms…rival rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving Him to carry the burden alone. Season 4 picks up from Season 3’s cliffhanger where Christ walked on water.”
Roumie previously told Movieguide® what viewers can expect from the fourth season:
While this season is expected to be darker than previous seasons, Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus, told Movieguide® why it’s important to have a “glimmer of hope.”
“Because that’s the example Jesus gave us. He gave us the example of His life as a proof of a reason to hope,” Roumie said. “And I think by people connecting to Him however it happens—whether through Bible, through church, through a television show—that gets them to go to church, gets them to open the Bible, all of that leads back to the evidence of hope.”
To watch THE CHOSEN finale, viewers can tune in to the Chosen livestream or watch on THE CHOSEN app.
